Ok. Let's try this again. Here is a picture that I have not yet seen of a bike similar to Mickey's. It's more closeup that the pictures I've seen in the past. However, as kgeaux pointed out earlier, Mickey's bike seat is black and doesn't have the gold squishy wrap around thing.

I am posting this picture for those of you who are tinkering around with images and measurements and physics. Maybe it will be useful. Maybe not.

The Old Evangeline Downs track...wasn't there a prostitution sting there a year or two ago?

    Has anyone searched there?

Please read post #2. We are NOT discussing the man from NC from this point on unless we have good reason to go there. Any future discussion of PS, the man from NC will result in timeouts.

We also do not allow the discussion of psychics on Websleuths.

for those of you who read about and follow lots of these missing cases. how often are people found or the perp found with credit going to the missing flyer posters? just curious.

Elizabeth Smart is one - can't remember if it was media coverage that she was recognized or if it was from a flyer

Just a shout out to the locals:

Has anyone heard anything at all recently? After Charlie asked last week for volunteers to come by and pick up laminated posters to replace the old, rain damaged ones, I haven't heard anything. Are they still in the search headquarters at S. College and Johnston?

Charlie posted today there's a buzz in the air, today is the day Mickey comes home (paraphrased) and I know that is just a wish, not a hint! I'm becoming very discouraged because I am hearing nothing, not even gossip or rumors.

We've talked the truck halfway around the universe and back, we have no forensics on the bike, we have no evidence of anything.

I just don't know where to go from here.

Ok so here's a question for the locals...is the case still generating interest? Being spoken about? Searches continuing etc?

A case in Melbourne Australia did in 1999 you may of heard it it's become a movie but cannot be released in Australia for legal reasons. The flyer was noticed by a detective and also a girl who use to go to the girls old dance company noticed her flyer and was actually the last person to see her and with the person who killed her. Was massive and sad and if it wasn't for the flyers and family persistence they Probally would still be looking. Flyers do work.

I don't have any statistics on that, but with the lack of media coverage or on-going LE press conferences, those flyers are the one of only two things keeping Mickey's face out there. It's flyers and social media.

Every time I tape a flyer up, or even see one as I drive through town, I am reminded to pray for Mickey, her family, and for the loving donors who supplied those flyers. I pray that someone will come forward with evidence that leads to finding Mickey, and I also pray that whoever is responsible for
Mickey's disappearance is haunted by those flyers, feels regret and an urge to confess every time he sees a flyer. I pray the flyers are all over his neighborhood, and that he feels like there is no where he can go to get away from them.

There is a great deal of interest. Nothing new, nothing I can bring here. No on-going searches at this point.

Girl, you are going to be so tired tomorrow morning! When you decide to hit the sack, I hope you sleep well!

I know what you mean. The only things we havent talked on and on, ad nauseum about are the things we cant talk about at all. I so wish LE would release anything new, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, just to keep discussion going and her name and picture on peoples' minds. The lack of anything at all from LE is what leads so many here to grasp for anything at all to latch onto and is usually what leads ultimately to threads being locked down. JMO

Unfortunately, without additional information or some sort of news, there isn't anywhere else to go. The number of missing persons posts in this forum that falls into this rut of nothing else to talk about is legion and it seems this case is heading there as well. There's only so much you can discuss based on a very small amount of information that it just becomes a circular discussion and you realize you are talking about the exact same thing that was talked about 2 weeks ago.

Best thing to do is to keep the word out, via flyers and social media. Keep the name out there and perhaps someone, somewhere will see something that breaks the case.

I live here in Lafayette. Unfortunately, I do believe the case has lost the dramatic "entrance" it made. Upon learning of Mickey's disappearance, the community
was out in full force, banning together, as well as the media. Lately I have not been hearing much in regards to the case or about Mickey, except if her family makes a statement through FB or "social media".
I for one wish Mickey's case was still all over the media, in papers...everywhere. I know the family is trying, but they need alot more help in getting Mickeys story out there again.
...JMO of course!! I'm willing to do what I can!!

My thoughts of the silence is that they are onto something and don't want to alert the perp that's my wishes this case cannot go cold so quickly! And if the family is remaining silent to well I'm assuming it's because LE has told them to back off a bit because they have leads and are possibly close to finding Mickey fingers and toes crossed

I've called, emailed, wished, hoped, called and emailed again! All I get---IF I get an answer at all---LE has nothing new to add. SO frustrating.

I used to think that, too. I hope you are right! It's dragging out so long, that I am beginning to believe they really have no clues left to follow.....if they had any idea of who had taken Mickey, I think some sort of move would have been made already. Hope I am wrong.

I felt very strongly last week that Mickey was still alive and coming home; I woke up every morning anticipating hearing the news that she had been found. This week, I HOPE that is true, but my feelings are more along the lines of sadness and a total lack of anticipation.

So here we sit. Profiles are often created from crime scenes. We have no crime scene. We have a bike, which may or may not have been damaged during what may be classified as an abduction since the only thing that is verified by LE is Mickey Shunick is missing.

The Lafayette press seems to be quiet on this topic. LE has not held a presser in weeks. If someone can help me brainstorm a new approach to this case, I will.

I know the difference in being discouraged and unwilling. I am simply discouraged right now and earnestly asking for others to start brainstorming--inside the rules of WS's of course.
