Tammy Hollins is the only young black female on my list from that time period.

But at 14, she is a little too young for the stated age range.

She was killed approx 3 weeks before she was found - which would be close to the 4th July 1979.
The black woman was approximately 17-25 years old, weighed 105-120 pounds, was between five feet and five feet three inches tall, and had a short afro haircut. She wore a yellow and white long sleeved pullover knit shirt with 1/4 inch yellow horizontal stripes around the shirt and a three inch yellow stripe around the upper sleeves. The woman was wearing dark maroon pants at the time she was found. No shoes were found.

    OK, now this is interesting:
    http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...g=5703,5761475

For those that haven't read the links, the quick run down is two girls were found stabbed dead in the same area in Tuscaloosa.

Sharon Williams aged 20 was found on the 5th July 1979 (no indication of when she died)
Our UID found on the 23rd July 1979 (suspect deceased approx 3 weeks).

The killer of Sharon Williams "Anthony Tyrone Washington" was found and arrested on the 18th July 1979 in Texas.

Could someone who thinks this might be a possible call this in?

    Numbers are here:
    http://www.tcsoal.org/phone_directory.php

I live on the other side of the world, calling this is just isn't a possibility for me.

Edited to add: It's OK, I've found some email addresses and sent off an email.

Tuscaloosa is home to me. Unfortunately we have had a lot of missing individuals in the surrounding areas (especially minorities), and there are plenty of rural areas to dispose of someone.

Not in the same time range obviously, but this is one of the more highly publicized cases in the area about 12 years ago or so. This part of the state is heavily wooded and large parts are very sparsely populated.

It is home to me, as well. The county, anyway.

    Another article about this case.

In a back corner of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, covered by brush, investigators and archeologists sift through dirt in order to collect every possible piece of the puzzle.

The remains, investigators are exhuming, belong to a female that police said was stabbed to death. Her decomposed body was found on Crisstown Road in McCalla in 1979.......

    a snippet from Kimster's link:

Hinton said, “I think there was only 13 people was here when she was buried. That was the information that I got. But like I say one of the old deacons he was out here when they did put her in the ground and he was the only one that knew exactly where she was located.”

Hinton believes there use to be an "unknown" sign that marked the grave, but much like the family of the unidentified victim, it is nowhere to be found.

I hope they took the sample from this victim. you'd think they could match up the stab wound from the skull but I found that part about no one knowing for sure where the body was buried to be very sad.

Here's the NamUs casefile for this Jane Doe.

    https://identifyus.org/en/cases/10469

Apparently, when they exhumed the remains, they were only able to find a few bones, mostly from the lower body.

But they were able to develop full mtDNA and nucDNA profiles.

Carl, that Namus profile is just incredible. they listed the information upon exhumation, not as the victim was found. they said there was no head recovered and no clothing. she was stabbed in the temple! obviously they had her head when they found her. (I don't know what happened to the skull, usually given their sizes, skulls tend to survive a long time even buried.

Dippybonder had a link that describe the victim's clothing, none of which went into the Namus page.

do they not have the original investigation file with all the information about this homicide victim?
