Forgive me if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it.

Starlette Vining has been missing from Presque Isle, Maine since September 1998 but was not reported missing until October 2006.

She was a reliable employee at a local grocery store but one day failed to show up for work. She never picked up her final paycheck.

Apparently Starlette had dropped out of her family's life before, which is why they didn't report her missing until 2006.

There are other articles about Starlette, just Google her name. The one's I've posted provide the basic info.

FYI, NamUs shows her date last known alive as 10/1/98, others show it as September 1998.

I have called in the following as a possible match: https://identifyus.org/en/cases/8191

It's a long shot, but I thought there was enough similarity to give it a try.

Thank you Marilynilpa!

From today's Bangor Daily News:

(snip) "Vining has been missing from the Presque Isle area since September 1998.

She would now be 52 years old.

Maine State Police Detective Joshua Haines said in a written statement Friday evening that Vining was reported missing in October 2006.

According to Vining’s missing person profile on the state police website, Vining last worked at Smythe’s IGA in Presque Isle. She last appeared for work there in October 1998. Described as a dependable employee, Vining suddenly stopping coming to work and never returned to pick up her last paycheck." (snip, more at link)

I forwarded the following UID to the Maine State Police:

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/8191

I also spoke to Lori at NamUs, who has forwarded this to a representative in Maine for follow-up.

They cannot do any comparisons since there is no DNA for Starlette. She has three adult children, so I am hoping they will eventually get DNA for comparison.

WAGM-TV reports that jurors found 76-year-old pawnshop owner George Jaime Sr., of Presque Isle, guilty of intentional or knowing murder in the death of Starlett "Star" Vining.

<snip>

Jaime's former daughter-in-law, Paris Voisine, testified Wednesday that she heard her husband and a friend describe how Jaime had dismembered and burned the body parts in a furnace before disposing of the ashes.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Circumstances of Disappearance - Investigation shows that Vining last worked at Smythe's IGA in Presque Isle and that she last appeared for work there in October 1998. In 2012 a man was convicted for her murder. The Maine Supreme Court upheld this ruling in 2015. Her remains were never found but believe to have been incinerated.
