Chief Duck said the boy was cleaning off his body board when Godsey came up from behind and put a knife to his neck. And then, at knife point, witnesses said Godsey dragged the boy into the women’s bathroom.

“There was a lot of people sitting there watching what was going on. It was scary; the lady had a knife,” Duck said.

According to police, the boy’s father rushed Godsey, got control of the knife, and held her until cops could come. When cops arrived, they said Godsey acted erratic.

A Baldwin County jury deliberated just more than an hour before finding Kathie Marie Godsey guilty of kidnapping a child at knifepoint at a public beach in July 2012..

Ms. Godsey was arrested and claimed to law enforcement that she would not have hurt the boy but wanted someone to shoot her.”
During the trial, Godsey changed her story and attempted to portray the uncle as the villain and convince the jury that she was only trying to save the boy from him.
