American wife of £5bn Tetra Pak heir is found dead at London home after suspected drugs overdose and husband arrested
Hans Kristian Rausing, 49, was arrested by police on suspicion of drug possession
Officers went to his home in exclusive Cadogan Place, Chelsea, where they found body of wife Eva, 48
Rausing, whose father Hans has built up a £5.4bn fortune with packaging firm Tetra Pak, is tonight being questioned by Scotland Yard detectives
Three members of staff at the house have been questioned by police

Just heard this on the wireless. They have a history with drugs and maybe if they had been punished properly then, this might not have happened.

More at inevitable Daily Mail link

I'm hopping mad about this, from above DM link.

"Four years ago Mrs Rausing was caught trying to smuggle heroin and crack into a function at the American Embassy in London.
When police searched the couple’s home they found more crack and heroin – and £2,000 worth of cocaine.
But they escaped trial as when the case came to court prosecutors announced they had been handed conditional cautions instead."

Imagine that :what: If they had been black and poor, would the same have happened?
Nah, didn't think so, they would have been locked up so quick their feet wouldn't have touched the ground

Frog-marched to the gallows, they would have been.

From that inevitable Mail link above:
Eva Rausing is the daughter of millionaire American businessman Tom Kemeny, a former Pepsi executive who owns an island off South Carolina.

From 2008

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, then last week he reportedly fled when police came to talk about a car crash. Here, friends tell of the deeper anguish in the billionaire Rausing family – and how it tortures the ‘monosyllabic, vacant’ Hans.
It was a moment that bordered on farce but was in fact firmly rooted in an increasingly grim reality.

Last night police said Hans Rausing remained under arrest but had been taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Officials refused to discuss why but the news prompted speculation that he had suffered some kind of breakdown. Earlier, security staff were called in to help download CCTV cameras from the Chelsea mansion and surrounding area.

A post mortem examination was carried out yesterday afternoon on 48-year-old Mrs Rausing, but failed to find the cause of death. Further toxicology tests will take place to determine whether drugs or alcohol were responsible.

One of the heirs to the multibillion-pound Tetra Pak empire is being treated at a hospital as police wait to interview him in connection with the death of his wife.

Scotland Yard said there was a police presence at the hospital, but it is understood that Rausing has yet to be interviewed over the death of his wife.

Her death is being treated as "unexplained" and is being investigated by the homicide and serious crime command of the Metropolitan police.

A postmortem at Westminster mortuary on Tuesday failed to establish the cause of Mrs Rausing's death. Further toxicology tests are being carried out to establish how she died.

Mail now reporting.....
The wife of one of Britain’s richest men may have been dead for up to a week in a bedroom at the couple's mansion, it emerged today.
---

And, according to DM.....

Tetra Pak heir and wife had sunk to living in two-room drug den within £15m home
Billionaire Hans Kristian Rausing may have lived with his wife Eva’s dead body for up to four days before it was discovered by police.
---
One friend who claimed to have recently visited the Cadogan Place address said the couple have been living virtually in two rooms which he described as a ‘drugs den’. Much of the sprawling house, he said, was ‘unused’.
---
Recent pictures show Mr Rausing to be a shadow of his former self and it is understood that when officers tried to question him – initially about the possession of drugs and hours later about the discovery of his wife’s body – he struggled to speak coherently and failed to answer their questions.

huge story - Daily Mail being fond of the "ice cream scoop" approach in terms of just adding new stuff to the top of the cone, as it were, leaving the older product to melt out the bottom - at link above

Wow....how sad and tragic and she was really tiny to begin with. Someone should have intervened. imo

Somehow didn't, for a couple reasons, see this coming....

Tetra Pak billionaire Hans Rausing arrested on suspicion of
murdering his American wife found dead in £70m London home

---
Detective Inspector Sharon Marman told Westminster Coroner's Court today: 'We have not yet been in a position to interview Mr Rausing. He has been arrested on suspicion of her murder and we await notification of when he would be fit to be interviewed by police.'

Outlining the facts of the case, she added: 'On Monday July 9 this year police had the occasion to stop Hans Rausing driving a car in Wandsworth. 'The officer suspected that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
---
'Within the car a small amount of drugs were found and he was taken back to Wandsworth police station.

'An authority was granted to search his home address. During the course of the search officers found the apparently lifeless body of a female in one of the bedrooms.'

the story at Daily Mail link above

Two rooms sealed off with tape, what sounds like a patchwork quilt of bin bags, clothes and soft furnishings covering the demised lady.
Husband in the Capio Nightingale (more like a luxury hotel than a psych clinic) and PM Cameron's brother as his barrister.
An unholy mess indeed
