Search Underway For North Ridgeville Man Lost in British Columbia Wilderness
His family said they haven't heard from him since July 5.
Police learned from Sill’s parents that he had planned to spend several days in the area gathering footage of the elusive Kermode bear, or "spirit bear," a subspecies of black bear with an entirely white coat. Only about 100 are believed to exist — most along the coast of British Columbia, according to the North American Bear Center in Minnesota.
Police grew concerned when they discovered during a search of Sill’s vehicle that he had left behind his tent, sleeping bag and camp stove, Smith said. And when investigators learned that Sill is not a seasoned outdoorsman with advanced survival skills, a search party was deployed, including rescue workers in helicopters and on foot.

07-27-2012, 10:27 AM #15By late June, after wildlife tours through Montana and Alberta, among others, Mr. Sill was in Prince George, B.C.
Joel Fowler, a musician, hosted Mr. Sill over the Canada Day weekend. In an email to the Post, he wrote that Mr. Sill had no concrete travel itinerary, but that he intended to compile his travels into a documentary protesting the Northern Gateway pipeline, a proposed bitumen pipeline running from Alberta to Kitimat, B.C. After trekking in to Seven Sisters, Mr. Sill had reportedly planned to meet up with a host in nearby Terrace, B.C.
“Warren, I hope you find your spirit bear,” wrote Mr. Fowler in a message posted to Mr. Sill’s Couchsurfing.org profile before his disappearance. Both Mr. Fowler and another Prince George hosts gave Mr. Sill rave reviews, noting his “adventurous personality” and “positive energy.”
Did he meet up with this "host"?
