"The Eunice News reported last week that Lavergne was the primary suspect in Pate’s death at the time of the initial investigation but was never charged."

He's ALWAYS been a suspect in Pate's murder. ~ never formally charged.

If he and "others" tried to blame it on KA... then she had to have been killed before June 19th (or no?)

BSL was at FT POLK... It's not like he really could have just put Pate somewhere till the next weekend!~ unless he did...

"Another parish preparing to bring Brandon Lavergne in to answer charges. Last week, we told you about a domestic violence allegation that never saw the inside of a courtroom in St. Landry Parish. It happened in Feburary 2000...Now, Lavergne could be headed to St. Landry to face a judge there, before his two murder trials in Lafayette and Acadia get underway."

i'm glad they can still charge him and hope they find a few more things to throw at him....

"The records given to the clerk about who was being booked into jail back in 2000 have been destroyed. It's unclear whether it's the police department who never told them"

Brought forward by me because I'm still confused.... LOL

I'm going to blame the post-surgical haze here for this, but I am one confused puppy. I've read and read and read as far back as I could (and trust me, that was a lot!!), and I'm missing the connection between CH, BSL, LP, and this car accident. How does all this relate to each other?

I'm sorry if it's been explained and I'm just too blind to see it. I had minor surgery on Friday morning, and I've been really out of it all weekend -- had no access to CajunNet either! Ohh, the humanity! ;-)

Beats me.

I don't think Lisa or BL was in the car that crashed, but I could be wrong. So not sure why all of the concentration on the crash, or how he fits into it.

I wonder if the actual paperwork(affidavit and such) in reference to LP's murder is worded "on or about July 3" and we are just hearing from the media "July 3.

Also, in reference to the DV charges, the statute of limitations would only affect the filing of the charges, once the warrant is issued it is active until it is served(subject is arrested and processed on that particular warrant) or it is recalled by the court(dropped charges). IIRC.

Because the CajunNet up in Church Point has been in overdrive.

Hopefully we will now take some time to sort through it. Hoping that we can get some better "facts" about this accident - and keep it simple... so we can see if there's something there.

The main thing driving it, I think, is that the occupant of the house behind which LP's remains were found knew BSL, and was in a wreck that killed someone else.. right about the time that LP ostensibly was in the wind - not - not reported missing - but whereabouts unknown.

It's the coincidence of the two deaths... there's some smoke there. Whether there is fire is unknown.

One piece of info not being talked about a lot - but which I see as key - is BSL's connection to that house.

Did a cousin own it, as rumor had it in some posts I read?

And..... as BSL knew CH (by CH's own admission), it's a coincidence that a body shows up in her back yard - and then BSL is the #1 suspect for LP's murder in 1999 - then is taken before a grand jury in 2008 - then is formally charged with her murder in 2012.

CH seems to be somewhere near the center of what happened - wittingly or not.

Due to the coincidence of the personal connections - and the timing of the wreck - and the location of the body - the wreck has to be considered as somehow involved - IMO - even if it just provided an empty house for BSL to stash the remains.

I find it absolutely amazing that everything to do with BSL just has a way of disappearing right into thin air.

Like I said before, a whole can of worms.

I am not just talking about the evil stuff BSL may have done, but what the authorities have/haven't done in respect of BSL in the past.

MOO etc.

They are calling the assault "simple battery". And without paperwork being properly handled, I can't imagine how they are going to pursue this charge 12+ years later. JMO

IMO- There could be two reasons why the battery charges weren't pursued in 2000.
1.) The DA's office didn't see it as a priority because they had bigger fish to fry at the time or thought he was already getting what was due to him with the SO charge

2.)The BSL could've threatened the wife and had her go plea with the DA to drop the charges chalking it up to a domestic dispute

In that case, I am very upset with St. Landry Parish. That warrant should have been served the moment he left prison in 2008. Didn't they do a dang warrant check when they released him?

Possibly it could have affected the outcome. Could have put him back in jail. Maybe could have saved victims we don't know about.

I wonder if warrants like that are lumped with traffic warrants - as in - any cop running BSL's plate should have been able to arrest him at any time 2008 on.

Having once been arrested on a traffic warrant, it burns me to see that apparently BSL had an active warrant that was just ignored by LE.

There's probably more to the story - and if not, shame, shame, shame on St. Landry Parish. This is the first thing in the BSL saga that smells like scandal.

I hope there is an adequate explanation - because the Shunicks have to be fuming at hearing he had an outstanding warrant.

If Lisa was killed on July 3rd, BSL would have buried her on the rental house property to draw suspicion towards KA and away from him. At that time no one knew when she had been killed or where. The locals and LE didn't know when she disappeared. BSL knew KA had been killed. He may have looked upon the death as a convenience.
People apparently knew BSL's reputation or people talked and so KA was never really considered a serious suspect.

Several threads back Wser Laffy Taffy spoke of the accident that coincided with the disappearance/death of a young woman found at a camp. BSL was thought to be a POI at the time. She was the first to mention it here.

Yes, prior to his prison term! While he was in high school... The girls remains we're located by a "camp" BSL was seen in the area the girl went missing as well as linked to a car accident the same night and same location.
His friend was in a wheel chair for many years after the accident. It was said his friend (female) knew something of that night and was threatened if she ever said anything he would burn her house down with her family in it.

<snipped by me>

I'm not sure how Louisiana does it, but my husband was LE in another state. In a case where someone disappeared and there was enough evidence to indict for murder, the date the victim was reported missing would be listed as DOD, at least until it could be narrowed down further.

This might explain why the indictments lists 5-19-12 for MS and 7-3-99 for LP (assuming LP was reported missing to the police on 7/3). Just a thought...

LE when they are unable to pinpoint the exact date of death, which happens frequently btw, they will use the missing person report or last date seen as the date of death.

Seeing July 3rd, does not surprise me in any way.

In this post, it is stated BSL was the 3rd passenger in the vehicle.
