Dylan’s announces temporary shutdown

By K. Michelle Moran
C & G Staff Writer

According to patrons and a notice on the restaurant’s website, Dylan’s Raw Bar & Grille, 15402 Mack, announced a temporary closure effective July 30, with plans to reopen soon in the same location or elsewhere in the community.

Dylan’s — a Park staple since 2007 that is as well known for its cuisine as for its concerts — is currently housed in a building owned by Robert Bashara, the Park man who has been accused of hiring someone to kill the man he allegedly hired to kill his wife. Bashara is in jail on a solicitation of murder charge, and was slated, at press time, to return to court July 31 with his new attorney, Mark Kriger. He has not been charged in connection with the slaying of his wife, Jane Bashara, this January at the home they shared. Bashara has maintained his innocence with regard to his wife’s murder and the reported plot to have handyman Joseph Gentz killed in jail.

A statement signed by restaurant staff on the Dylan’s website reads, in part: “We have enjoyed entertaining you, and look forward to doing so again in the near future.”

The restaurant’s owner could not be reached for comment.

Dylan’s was formerly Tom’s Oyster Bar, another popular eatery. For more information, visit http://dylansrawbar.com.

"due to circumstances beyond our control" - I wonder if the sister is kicking them out or if they're just getting while the getting is good, I can't imagine she is going to be very proactive with maintenance, etc. in the near future. I'm just assuming the sister is in control since she controls his home now.

I'm sure moving is the last thing these guys want to do right now but in the long run it's for the best.

At another forum they said restaraunt owners wanted new lease agreement .. with the same rent as before...

.. but they couldn't come up with an agreement .. because, reportedly Bob Bashara wanted much more money per monthly rent than they previously were paying to him (per old agreement)

GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - The murder-for-hire case against Bob Bashara is taking another step forward Tuesday morning.

The Grosse Pointe Park man is expected to be arraigned in Wayne County Circuit Court where he will stand trial.

Bashara was bound over last week after prosecutors played muffled tape recordings of him allegedly plotting a hit on his former handyman Joe Gentz.

Bob Bashara, original lawyers expected back in court today

... The two members of the original defense team representing Bashara in the case, attorneys David Griem and Christina Utley, are expected to be in court this morning, Utley said.

"We have to go in front of court ... to do a substitution," she said.

But Bashara's new attorney, Mark Kriger, said it's unlikely he'll be there because he is involved in an ongoing federal trial ...

LOL Bob's not important enough and further solidifies the case that the request to withdraw was Griem's attempt at delaying the preliminary hearing. I doubt Kriger will ever really represent Bob in this case.

DETROIT -
A hearing Tuesday for Bob Bashara has been adjourned for another week.

Bashara was expected to plead not guilty to a solicitation of murder charge during the hearing when he went in front of a Wayne County judge. But the hearing will now be Aug. 7.

So Griem has totally quit?

http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/region...ill-be-charged-in-connection-with-wifes-death

(WXYZ) - The ex-attorney for Bob Bashara says Bashara will likely face charges in connection with his wife's death.

Attorney David Griem says it appears that is the direction in which prosecutors are moving based on subpoenas that have been sent out.

"He will be charged in his wife's murder," Griem said. "There is going to be a second case guaranteed."

Griem's comments came after a court hearing Tuesday.

Bashara was expected to be arraigned on murder-for-hire charges in an alleged plot to kill Joe Gentz, his former handyman.

That arraignment was postponed until next week because Griem is withdrawing from the case, and the new attorney Mark Kriger is tied up in a federal case this week.

Gentz is behind bars charged with murdering Bashara's wife Jane, but Gentz reportedly claims Bashara forced him to strangle her at gunpoint.

Bob Bashara to testify in own defense, his ex-attorney says

10:46 AM, July 31, 2012

Bob Bashara wants to tell his side of the story and plans to testify in his own defense, his former attorney David Griem said this morning after a brief appearance in Wayne County Circuit Court.

“He’s always had a desire to have his story be heard,” Griem said. He did not shed any light on what that story will be.

Bashara’s arraignment in circuit court, scheduled for this morning, was adjourned until Aug. 7 when his new attorney Mark Kriger can be present.

.....

Bashara is charged with trying to hire someone to orchestrate a hit on handyman Joe Gentz, a man charged with murdering Bashara’s wife. Bashara appeared in a Detroit courtroom this morning wearing green jail clothing with red patch pockets, white socks and tan sandals. He carried a yellow notepad in his right hand. No cameras were allowed inside the courtroom today.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Bruce Morrow allowed Griem and fellow attorney Christina Utley to turn the case over to Kriger, who was not in court today because he’s involved in an ongoing federal trial. Utley called Kriger a great attorney with a stellar reputation outside the courtroom...

Fabulous, that's fine by me. Still making sure everyone hears his pompous voice, still doesn't realize what an UNlikeable man he is.

Griem: Bashara likely will be charged in wife's murder

By Christine Ferretti and George Hunter
The Detroit News

...

If there's anybody who doesn't believe there's going to be a second case against Robert Bashara, I don't know where they've been the past seven months," Griem said. "There's going to be another case — guaranteed. He will be charged in his wife's murder. He understands he needs to go to war twice."

Kriger has not yet shared a strategy for representing Bashara. He could not be immediately reached Tuesday.

Griem said Bashara will be "in great hands" with Kriger and added he plans to meet with Kriger this weekend to discuss the case. Griem said he believes Kriger will also represent Bashara if he's charged in connection with Jane Bashara's murder.

"Throughout this whole ordeal we'll be available to consult and strategize in any way we can," Griem told reporters Tuesday.

The arraignment of Bob Bashara in Wayne County Circuit on charges that he attempted to hire a hitman was adjourned Tuesday for one week to allow his new defense attorney to be present at the proceedings.

Attorney David Griem successfully petitioned Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow to have Mark Kriger represent Bashara in his trial.

Griem had asked to be allowed to stop representing Bashara when the case was in 36th District Court, but he was unsuccessful.

"Certain things happened in the relationship which just made it impossible for the two of us to go together," Griem said outside the court building in Detroit. "In regards to Mr. Bashara's defense, we were not only not on the same page, we weren't even in the same book."

Kriger is currently in trial in U.S. District Court, and was unable to attend Tuesday's arraignment, Griem said. Bashara will be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 7 before Morrow on solicitation of murder charges for allegedly trying to hire a jailhouse hitman to murder Joe Gentz, who is charged with murdering Bashara's wife, Jane Bashara.

Bashara, who was wearing a green court jumpsuit, said little during the proceedings and thanked the judge as he was being led back to the Wayne County Jail.

Prior to the next court date, Griem said that he will turn over materials to Bashara's new lawyer.

"Throughout this ordeal, we will be available to consult with him, strategize and assist in any way that we can," Griem said.

While he will no longer be representing Bashara, Griem said he believes his now former client will have a long road ahead of him...

Family of murdered Grosse Pointe Park woman, Jane Bashara, seeks closure

Jane Bashara's mother wants charges brought against correct person to get closure for family

GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. -
Bob Bashara remains in jail while he is charged with solicitation of murder.

He is accused of plotting to have his former handyman Joe Gentz, a suspect in Bashara's wife Jane Bashara's murder, killed while in jail.

Meanwhile, seven months since Jane's murder, there is still no justice for her.

The Local 4 Defenders have been told more charges, on top of the murder charges against Gentz, likely are coming soon. That's something Jane's mother, Lorraine Englebrecht, hopes can happen sooner than later.

"Absolutely, somebody's got to be held accountable," she said. "You know, it will never be closure for me, but I want to see the person or persons who killed Jane pay for it. Pay for it. Jane didn't deserve that."

In an exclusive interview with the Defenders, Englebrecht said she is glad Bob Bashara is behind bars. However, she was in disbelief when she heard Bob was being accused of killing Gentz.

"Why this man? Why this Gentz? I couldn't even believe it. Why would (Bob) put himself in another position like he did. Only a crazy man would do that," Englebrecht said....

I have followed this case due to some connections I have with Jane. First post.

I have to say, the picture of BB above creeps me out! He is gross. She deserved much, much better. I feel sorry for the kids.

Second, I have never seen an defense attorney announce forthcoming charges lol.

God Bless Jane and I pray she gets Justice (if there is such as thing :banghead:)
