OLYMPIA, Wash. — A new report concludes social workers could have made more informed decisions about Josh Powell's sons had they received more information from West Valley police about the investigation into his missing wife, Susan Cox Powell.

That information could have either been shared between police and social workers in Washington or social workers could have made more of an effort to seek it out, according to the report...

...However, in a prepared statement summarizing the report, the committee found that DSHS "could have evaluated (Josh Powell) differently for domestic violence and not allowed in-home visits with the boys," and that it would have been beneficial for DSHS to have more information about the West Valley police investigation into Powell.

I'd like to see an independent study done on josh powell. A full workup with what info is known, plus an overlay of his financial, travel, online and work profiles rather than the anecdotal info coming out. Also a thorough release of info from ALL agencies. What is so special about josh powell that this info can''t be released? CIA? NSA?

I'd like to see it too, Jacie!

The report, by the child fatality review committee, also concluded social workers should immediately reassess visitation policies when someone is ordered to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.
Powell had been ordered to undergo the evaluation by a judge after authorities claimed they had found incestuous images on his computer.

There might be clues about where we can find Susan. I want that for the Coxes.

How hard did WA try to get info? What efforts did they make? JP was very well known, as were the suspicions about him. Did anyone from WA fly to Utah to ask? Ask for info via the media? Ask their governor to ask Utah's governor? I mean, really, let's have some accounting for whether anyone ever even picked up a phone.

This is part of their own CYA tour - blame it on Utah.

They all disgust me. Both states. Every last person who touched this case. Every last legislator who outsourced children's lives to the low bidder social work firm.

Lawsuit notice filed against state of Washington in Powell case

Attorneys representing Susan Cox Powell’s estate gave Washington State’s child welfare agency notice Tuesday they intend to file a wrongful death lawsuit alleging negligence resulted in the deaths of the missing Utah woman’s two sons.
"It is clear that [the agency] knew or should have known about the danger Josh Powell presented to the safety of his children and failed to take actions that could have prevented this tragedy," said James Rogers, a Seattle attorney representing the Cox family.
