Deputies searched Baker's 5-acre property near Waterloo, Oregon, where they located his vehicle. The vehicle was initially reported missing before the investigation opened.

I'd like to know more about why his nephew didn't report him missing. It appears his work alerted LE, but I'm not sure about that. The nephew is a minor, so be very careful about what you post. When I say I wonder why the nephew didn't report him missing, I'm wondering if he was told his uncle was somewhere else and was coming back.

I wonder who reported the vehicle missing? Why report a vehicle missing and not a person? I wonder if it was a work vehicle, so his work also reported that missing/stolen? I also wonder where on his 5-acre property his vehicle was found. Was it concealed at all? Very interesting...

Oh no! :tears: He looked like a really nice guy in his pic and I was really hoping he was just hanging out elsewhere and would be found safe.

:rose: Rest in peace, Gary :rose:

So sad! I want to look into thus some more. Did his nephew live with him? He really did look like a nice man by his picture. RIP.

Linn County Circuit Court Judge DeAnn Novotny sentenced Johnathan Baker to 10 years in prison for lthe first-degree manslaughter death of his uncle Gary Baker, a former Corvallis businessman...

Neighbors and family members told investigators that Gary Baker, 69, was an entrepreneurial businessman, who was working as a financial adviser.

They also said Baker “was a strict, demanding man who expected accountability, self-discipline and self-reliance from his nephew.” But Eder said some characterized the elder Baker’s actions as too harsh, or as examples of “tough love.”
