A specialist in forensic anthropology preliminarily identified the remains of that of a Caucasian woman between the ages of 35 to 45 years, however additional forensic work must be completed.

The Glenn County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation as a homicide and the department has started the process of attempting to identify the victim, who has been classified as a Jane Doe at this time.

There was an anklet, a bracelet, one earring, and seven rings found on and around the remains. The Sheriff's Department released a photo of the jewelry.

This case is being treated as a homicide and all that jewelry was left with our victim? It must not be a robbery, then.

I'd like to get a better view of the charms. They might give us a clue as to what she liked.

In one case, the burned skeletal remains of a 35- to 45-year-old woman were found July 27 in a burn pile at Ord Bend Park in Glenn County. Merrifield said it's one possibility and he is staying in contact with the Glenn County Sheriff's Office. However, it will take time to DNA-type the remains and check if they match.

The article in the op is no longer there. How long is the body thought to have been there?

Here's Heidi's Charley Page, placed here so that it is visible after the casefile is closed.

Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance

Missing Since: June 8, 2005 from Chico, California
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date of Birth: July 17, 1967
Age: 37 years old
Height and Weight: 5'9 - 5'10, 145 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Brown hair, hazel/brown eyes. Ring has a gap between her upper front teeth and her right upper front tooth is discolored. She has previously fractured her right wrist. Her ears are pierced five to eight times each. Ring has two small moles on her upper abdomen and a tattoo of a small yin-yang symbol on her right hip.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: Unknown, but she usually wears many rings and earrings, a silver chain with a round gemstone pendant, and eclectic, "quasi-hippie" clothing.
Medical Conditions: Ring suffers from epileptic seizures and is supposed to be taking medication to control them. She does not have her medication with her and she is reportedly unable to function without it. She has also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Ring is classified as disabled.

Details of Disappearance

Ring was last seen at approximately 3:00 a.m. at a Motel 6 in the vicinity of the 600 block of Manzanita Court in Chico, California. She had reserved a room at the motel with two acquaintances for the night. Her companions stated that she left their room before they did. Ring has never been heard from again. She left her cellular phone behind at the motel.

Ring was homeless at the time of her disappearance and her monthly Social Security disability check, which is delivered to her brother's home in Chico, was her only source of income. She picked up her check on June 1, but did not pick it up in July or any month after that. Ring frequents the Chico area and the Redding, California area. Her family says it is uncharacteristic of her to be out of touch with them.

There was a possible sighting of Ring nearly two months after her disappearance; a man believes he picked her up hitchhiking in Chester, California and stated Ring was trying to get to Portland, Oregon. Ring was born in Portland, but she moved away from there in early childhood and her family cannot think of why she would want to go there. Nonetheless, the sighting has been deemed credible. Ring's case remains unsolved.

Chico mother seeks answers in daughter's death

Finding Heidi's remains brought little comfort to her broken-hearted mom. She says, "How is it better, knowing that she's dead, and is never coming home? How is that better?" She says her one goal is now to find out how Heidi died. Gretchen believes she was either murdered, her body dumped in rural Glenn County, or there was some sort of accident. "She could have been doing drugs and started having a seizure and died, and they thought, 'what are we going to do?' and dumped her body. That could have happened also...I need to know what happened. I hope before I die to know what happened to Heidi. That's my goal."

i hope heidi that you are now at peace and that some answers are found for your family and for yourself
