Allegedly teenagers attacked Pat Mahaney just for entertainment.

Police: Man attacked because teens 'were just bored'

Sometimes I think it is good to release the names of minors.

From your link:

Mahaney was taken to Mercy Mt. Airy Hospital, where he was treated for four days before being released Tuesday. He suffered so many internal injuries that doctors had to insert a tube down his throat to remove all the blood from his stomach.

A tube remained in his right nostril Wednesday and blood continued to seep out of his head. His left eye was heavily blackened............

It was a heinous crime but it was not a hate crime,” North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust said. Several residents called police, noting the suspects are black and inquiring whether Mahaney was specifically targeted because he is white. He was not, the chief said.

But police were struck by how cocky the boys were for their age.

“They were pretty arrogant in the interview with us,” Foust said. “It’s appalling. I think it’s despicable. This appears to be premeditated and there was no remorse on behalf of any of the assailants. Thirteen-year-olds ought to be playing basketball, not running the streets looking for ways to entertain themselves at the expense of somebody.”

Foust credited Mahaney’s neighbors for coming to his aid.

He is lucky to be alive..thank goodness the neighbors helped turn these 'children' in...I wonder if they were too young to be charged as adults...what is the law in OH? IMO they should have stayed in detention, not been released to parents who obviously had no control over them to begin with....

Will be interested to know the outcome of their trial on 8/24...

"Mother of the Mizzell twins, Latasha Alford, 32, said that while not excusing her sons’ actions, they did feel peer pressure to go along with the other boys.

“They are deeply sorry for what happened,” she said. “They do feel bad. They do realize what they did was wrong.”

Peer pressure?! Great excuse mom! ~Sarcasm~ When did beating another person unconscious become something kids do so their peers think they are cool? These boys have no remorse, no shame, no compassion and it looks like this mom doesn't either. JMHO

Three of the six teenagers charged with the brutal beating of a man in 2012 simply because they were bored were sentenced Thursday.

The middle school football teammates admitted participating in the beating and stomping of Pat Mahaney on Aug. 11, 2012, that left him bleeding so heavily internally that his stomach was bloated...

Champion and twins Tyree and Terrell Mizell pleaded guilty almost a year ago to felonious assault in the attack on Mahaney.

It's taken almost two years, but the case involving the teens who beat up a man because they were bored is finally over.

Thursday morning, a judge sentenced the final 16-year-old -- convicted in the beating of Pat Mahaney in North College Hill -- to probation and mental health treatment...

The teens involved have been sentenced to a variety of punishments because the case has been handled by two different judges.

The first two teenagers got probation, had to write a book report and serve 10 days on a work detail.

The next teen had to undergo a year of mental health treatment.

Two other teens had to complete a nine-month disciplinary program.
