A medical examiner found unexplained injuries on the body of a 62-year-old tourist who was found dead on the grounds of a Mission Bay hotel where she had been staying with her husband and homicide detectives are investigating her death, police said Friday.
Gale Yonai of Montebello was found shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday face down, unconscious and unresponsive, in a man-made pond on the grounds of the Paradise Point Resort and Spa in the 1400 block of Vacation Road.
Yonai left the couple's rented room to smoke while her husband was napping around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
