Veronica Herrera

Veronica's 2-year-old daughter was going to the bathroom when the toddler became upset, fell and apparently hit her head on a heater, which was next to the toilet.

"Veronica then continued to say that she did not want to lose her children about three times,

purchase lighter fluid and later placed the body inside a barrel and set the body on fire sometime Thursday.

The woman then allegedly had the rest of her young children help add fuel to the fire, according to the report.

OMG.. What is wrong with this world..I can't even read link now.. Poor baby.. Her poor sibling will never be the same again either..

OMG!

Why don't I believe she fell off the toilet? :furious:

I should be careful what I say here, but I know someone who lived close to this family. I don't have any information other than what is in the media but I can tell you that they are planning a candelight vigil for this poor child. If anyone is in the area and would like to help or attend, I am sure they would really appreciate it. I will post more information as I get it.

Sure, burning them in a barrel sounds like a logical response if your child accidentally hits their head...not.

I don't think that's going to fly.

Most people would call 911 if a child isn't breathing after an accident..you don't go and burn the body..unless..well of course it wasn't as she said. It usually never is. IMOO

I don't believe that baby fell and hit her head either! Just another monster that snapped, decided to save her own skin, and used the siblings to help. How sick. I cannot even stand to think what that must have been like for the other kids!!! Such fear...

http://www.ktvb.com/news/crime/Mom-admits-killing-2-year-old-daughter-burning-up-body-204765981.html

A Homedale mother accused of killing her two-year-old daughter and burning up her body in a barrel to cover up the crime has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and five other felony charges.

Herrera also pleaded guilty to failure to properly report a death, destruction of evidence and three counts of injury to a child. Emery says two of those injury to a child counts were because Herrera forced siblings to participate in the burning of the body.

Prosecutors say two-year-old Nakita was abused, tortured and killed

Sentencing is set for July 25

Herrera has five other children

What is going on with these "parents" ? I hope she goes to jail for the rest of her life. Manslaughter, no. Once you dispose of or hide a deceased child, it should be murder.

Jovi... we need to look into the 'parents' background to get an answer to that, imo. I'll bet money that this womans childhood was neglectful/abusive. It's true that she could have made the choice to be different for her kids, but more often then not the cycle of dysfunction continues.

Article about the fatal Wisconsin fire explains it well: http://www.channel3000.com/news/Wan...al-past/-/1648/16612262/-/obg9tf/-/index.html

That said, I am disgusted that this woman was charged with involuntary manslaughter. She should be charged with 1st degree murder and be sentenced to death (if Idaho has it) or to LWOP. You can't tell me it was premeditated... she burned the girl in a barrel ffs!

Prosecutors say two-year-old Nakita was abused, tortured and killed by her mother, who then burned the body for several days to cover up the crime.

They must use the term 'mother' very loosely.

From September 2013:

A Homedale mother who killed her two-year-old daughter and then burned the child's body to cover up the crime could spend up to 30 years in prison for her actions.

Owyhee County JudgeThomas J. Ryan imposed a 15-year fixed sentence upon Veronica Herrera, with another indeterminate sentence of 15 years. The Homedale mother also won't have access to her five remaining children without approval of state counselors...

Earlier this year, Herrera pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and five other felony charges in connection with the death of her two-year-old daughter, Nakita.
