Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said a pathologist confirmed Friday that the bones found by a man collecting cans two days before were Aaron Abraham.

Authorities say Abraham was last seen on security camera footage leaving the Sumter County Library on July 19 as it closed. He appeared to be alone.

Abraham's body was found Wednesday in a ditch off state Highway 261 near Wedgefield.

Investigators say they don't have and suspects or a motive for the killing.

Officials with the Sumter Police Department believe that 65-year-old Johnny Singleton, who was found shot to death in his vehicle on Jan. 27, befriended 18-year-old Aaron Abraham whose decomposed body was found in August 2012 along a roadside near Wedgefield...

Tonyia McGirt, a Sumter Police Department spokeswoman, said investigators believed Singleton had knowledge regarding the disappearance of Abraham after they discovered that the teen would go to Singleton’s home and do chores such as cutting Singleton’s grass...

Braden Bunch of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said their investigation regarding Singleton’s death has him as a victim, but investigators from both agencies are working hand-in-hand to see if the cases could bring new evidence to light to Abraham’s disappearance and death.

“We, throughout the investigation, felt like Mr. Singleton had some involvement in the disappearance of Aaron,” Roark said.

Authorities say Singleton had given rides to Abraham and had also taken him to his home.

“We think he gained his confidence by having the appearance of trying to care for him and do things for him and we think he eventually violated that confidence and was actually involved in the disappearance,” Roark said.
