Search for missing Loretteville woman continues

MONTREAL – Sun Youth Organization is extending the reward for information on the whereabouts of Marilyn Bergeron, who has been missing for more than four years.

Bergeron was 24 years old when she vanished from her parents’ home in suburban Quebec City on Feb. 17, 2008. She had said she was going for a walk, and never returned.

That same day, she tried, unsuccessfully, to withdraw $60 from her bank account. She then used her credit card to buy a coffee at a Café Depot in St. Romauld, 20 kilometres from her parents’ home in Loretteville. She has not been seen since.

At the time of her disappearance, Bergeron was described as white, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 115 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. She had a tattoo of Pegasus between her right breast and shoulder.

She was wearing a long black coat with a fur hood, black suede boots with fur lining, and velour pants the last time she was seen.

The reward of up to $10,000 comes from an anonymous donor. The offer expires Jan. 13, 2013.

Anyone with information is asked to call Quebec City police at 418-641-2447.

"The family of Marilyn Bergeron, missing for seven years, remain hopeful"

snip>

"At the request of investigators in charge of Marilyn's disappearance case, the Sun Youth has renewed the $ 10,000 reward offered by his intervention on 13 January. The website of the family of Marilyn will be amended later this year to include new objectives in searches.

More than 200 cases of disappearances are still unresolved in Quebec"

Marilyn appears agitated/nervous in the ATM footage IMO, looking around nervously etc. Interesting read on the forum posted above by NT. Seven long years, I can't even begin to imagine the anguish of Marilyn's family.

This case has recently been reopened by the Quebec City Police Department. The strange thing is that there's no information available.

What is known:
She was living in Montreal and for some reason she had to move back to her parents place in Quebec. The day of her disappearance it is said she was depressed. She tried to get some money out of an ATM but it failed. She was caught on tape there. Then some time later she was seen buying a coffee et in coffee shop. And then nothing. I can't find anything on the case, no leads, no suspects, no theory, nothing. So I thought maybe websleuths could help.

More info, although not much : http://www.findmarilyn.com

Today is the 8th anniversary of when Marilyn went missing.

From your link:

The English version has not been updated as frequently as the French one. It has really been 8 years.

Agreed. Whenever I am at an ATM I am impatiently watching the screen for whatever it asks me to do next. Marilyn glances three times towards the outside. Was the guy in the footage ever identified?

The family of Marilyn Bergeron, a 24-year-old woman when she was last seen nine years ago today, believes she may still be alive and that someone in Montreal may know something about her disappearance.

Andrée Béchard, Bergeron's mother, had a message for her daughter at a news conference in Montreal Thursday.
"Marilyn, if you're still alive: for us it's like yesterday you disappeared. We love you, we're waiting for you with open arms, and we miss you so much," Béchard said.
She said the family is now working with well-known lawyer Marc Bellemare to set up an anonymous tipline. It's tripled a previously offered reward for information, increasing the amount from $10,000 to $30,000.
[h=2]Bergeron 'worried about her safety' before she disappeared[/h]
"She was quite nervous, and she said to her mother something happened, and that she worried about her safety in Montreal," Bellemare said.

Béchard says her daughter never elaborated.
Bellemare said the family believes someone in Bergeron's former social circle in Montreal might have more information
Marilyn Bergeron is 5'7" and weighed 115 pounds at the time of her disappearance. She had brown hair and green eyes. She had a tattoo of Pegasus just below her right collarbone.
Anyone who might have information about Bergeron's disappearance is being asked to contact Marc Bellemare, at 418-681-1227 or toll-free at 1-800-840-1526.

Marilyn Bergeron was 24 when she disappeared on Feb. 17, 2008, from the family home in the Quebec City area.
[h=1]‘We’re waiting for you’: Mother of missing Quebec woman makes plea, triples reward for information[/h]
She had just returned to live with her parents after living in Montreal for three years and was struggling emotionally with something, her parents said.

Bergeron promised to explain the circumstances fully to her family but, just one day later, she left on foot from the residence and disappeared.
After leaving her parents’ home, Bergeron was seen using a bank machine in Quebec City’s Loretteville district and at a coffee shop in the St-Romuald district of Levis, just across the river from the provincial capital.

She was alone during both sightings and Quebec City police haven’t been able to establish what happened to her
They are specifically asking for help from Montrealers who might have known their daughter and have information about the circumstances leading up to her disappearance.

It's one of those cases that could move forward in a positive way if people would just TALK.
