Marion County sheriff's deputies responded over the weekend to a call of skeletal remains in the Santiam Canyon area. Lt. Tad Larson, a sheriff's office spokesman, said the agency's "staff have been working over the weekend on this call."

"The investigation is ongoing," Larson said, adding that "this is all we have to report at this time."

Word of a finding of remains west of Detroit Lake prompted thoughts turning to Lori "Woody" Blaylock, the Bend woman killed by her husband, Stephen, in October 2010.

This case is of personal interest to me as Woody Blaylock was a very close friend of my sister who lives in Redmond OR.

Answers for someone hopefully! With all your time and dedication to the unidentified, I am really hoping for closure for your sister and Lori's family. Thanks Carl for all you do!

Wow CarlK! I was following this case very closely when Woody first went missing. I sure hope it is Woody. Some boaters in the river thought they saw her a few months back and searchers couldn't find her because of the dangers of the river.

If this is her, I would like to know more about the condition of the remains. It might help us figure out matches in the future - knowing the condition within the time frame of when she went missing. I heard in the Stacy Peterson case on the radio show the other night that they think if Drew left her in the river, only her skull would remain my now. I don't know how they figured that?

From what I understand about Stacy Peterson, someone said that she was placed in a blue plastic barrel. So if the barrel was ever to be found, presumably, her skeletal remains would probably be complete inside.

ME/C Case Number: 12-1983
Marion County, Oregon
30 to 50 year old Female
Height (inches) 64, Estimated
The remains of a female victim were discovered by hunters in a remote area of the Santiam Canyon off of Highway 22, near Niagrara Falls Park in Marion County Oregon. The call was received at 8:53am, Saturday September 1, 2012.

Hair: Dark brown to black with lighter highlights
skeletal assessment places this individual with genetic admixture; morphologically exhibits some African traits and some Asian/hispanic traits. Logistic regression comes up with a "black" determination.
Dark blue bra with underwire.
Black dress pants, "NINE WEST" brand, size 12, "Lisa" style extended tab waist.
White blouse
Dark knee-length trouser socks
black shoes, size USA 10.5 (not confirmed related to case, found in the vicinity of the remains)
Gold pierced earring, hugged style hoop

I am not finding much when searching Oregon missing women on Namus. The closest is
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/dehoop_wendy.html
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/875/16/

Pro: She is multiracial, according to Charley Project and Black/African American according to Namus so she would presumably fit the racial description nicely.
Age is a match.
Height is within two inches of the estimate; the remains are partial skeletal so I would think it's within the error margin.
She went missing wearing "black pinstriped pants and a suit jacket" which sounds reasonably close to Jane Doe's black dress pants and blouse.
Her ears are pierced. Jane Doe had earrings.

Contra: The time frame? Jane Doe has hair and recognizable clothing left and assuming she was found outdoors in the open, not in a container or something else that would preserve fabrics and hair, it might be a tad unrealistic for someone who has been missing since 2005. There is no estimated time of death given so it might possibly work, or maybe not.

Her hair is black, Jane Doe's is brown to black with highlights. Not a perfect match but it is possible that Dehoop's highlighting wasn't mentioned in her identifying info or that she got highlights after disappearing.

Location is not perfect but it could work. Jane Doe was found about 1 hour 40 minutes away from where Dehoop was last seen and about 70 minutes away from where she was going. (I believe there is a typo and Charley Project and Namus mean Halsey Oregon, not Hasley; that's where Georgia-Pacific has a site)

The markers in the map are very approximate. I didn't find Niagara Falls Park so I took the closest thing, Silver Falls Park.

Transportation? Her car was found in South Eugene, in the other direction which doesn't seem to fit. But it could possibly be a ruse. It seems awfully coincidental that the same person found both her purse and her car in different locations so it could be that he knew where they were because that's where he put them, after something happened, eg. on their ride to Halsey, and he dumped the body in the north and drove back to Eugene.

Thoughts?

I bumped into this PM as well. I noted with Ms. Dehoop, she has DNA and dentals entered into Namus, and that DNA tests were pending for the UID and dentals were available, but not yet entered.
Since this is a recent UID discovery, I put this into my "revisit PM" file.

I hope it will get resolved soon.

I found some discussion from 2005, the original links are gone but they're quoting.

It appears that her purse and car may have been found near each other after all; the
purse on the side of Lorane Highway and Fillmore Road in south Eugene, and car parked on the side of Lorane Highway.

It says she dropped her husband off at work. Her boss and her friend reported her missing.

Also:
"Dehoop is black, Cherokee and Hispanic."
vs. Jane Doe's
morphologically exhibits some African traits and some Asian/hispanic traits

I live near this area. If you guys need my help, knock me on the side of the head and get my attention.

The UID has dental records available in Namus now. Quite a lot of dental work, a bridge, root canals, fillings. Wendy DeHoop's dental records are available and entered so I suppose they were not able to match them.

I haven't heard anything about whether Woody Blaylock was ruled-out, but if they are creating a facial recon, they must be thinking it is not Woody.

The clothes don't match Jane Does's . There is one article floating on google that says she was going to meet up with him for a date but it's no longer available. Wonder if she changed before going to meet him?

A, b, d, e are locations associated with Bolanos-Rivera or the suspect. C is an approximate location of the UID.

How soon after the disappearance did he flee from the state? Could he have dumped the body on his way south?
