Father was Fredrick Ambrose born 1880 in England I believe

Mother: Just listed as Mayo

Sister: Beatrice Ambrose

So, now the trick is to find distant relatives. nm

Wow, what a journey for Ms. Ambrose!

Awesome job tracking that all down, Nemo's Mom and Miss Sunshine!

All the information above I found in an "orphan" family tree posted by an ancestry user. I have contacted the tree owner to see if they can provide additional information.

They also posted something about non-family photos found.

This is the link to the tree for ancestry members:

wil let you know what i find out. nm

I think this might be the sister:

"California, Death Index, 1940-1997," Beatrice May Bingener, 1958
Name: Beatrice May Bingener
Event: Death
Event Date: 27 Mar 1958
Event Place: Los Angeles, California, United States
Birth Date: 22 Jun 1901
Birthplace: Other Country
Gender: Female
Father: Ambrose
Mother: Mayo

"Arrival Contact: Sister Beatriz May Bingeroer" might be a mangling of the name?

I haven't been able to verify this elsewhere, but according to a brief mention on this page, a Paul Bingener has one immediate family member, Beatrice.

Possible husband to Beatrice, brother-in-law to Edith?

The owner of the family tree sent me this message:

There is family in the UK. Edith's brother has a son who is still alive. His daughter, Tracy reached out to me a couple of months ago after seeing the info on the tree. I gave her the contact info and offered to assist since I'm in California. Will let you know if I hear more.

I asked her if she did have more contact with the family to please let me know and if possible ask the relatives to contact San Bernadino.

I am still trying to understand this forum. Edith Ambrose is listed as a "match" based upon the fact that someone in the UK said Edith has a living relative.

do you have any knoweldge whether this person ever contacted San Bernadino and if the authorities in SB have closed their file?

SB has been notified, Nemo apparently has had contact. Sb will close the case on there site soon.

This is the reply to my inquiry to the owner of the family tree owner who had occasional contact with Edith's living family. This is the very interesting email the family member sent:

Thanks for your message. Sorry to have been so long replying but life has been fairly hectic and I have not had time to even glance at the Ancestry site until yesterday when my husband looked something up and I spotted there was a message waiting to be read.

What a shame that no one knew when Edith died; though I know there was no contact between the two sisters who emigrated to the US and the rest of the family for many years. My father wasn’t even sure that they really had emigrated.

Having looked at your entry again I have now contacted the Coroner’s Office and” claimed” Edith Mary. I will then contact the person in charge of archives who will look in the file and hopefully give me more information. It is very irksome not knowing more about her life. I only wish I had started looking into the Ambrose family tree years ago so I could have tried to trace her.

I had been doing the family tree with my first cousin once removed, Vickie. She is even busier than I am so after pretty much completing it a couple of years ago we have only looked sporadically since. We only ever had a subscription that covered the UK so hence no discoveries from across the Atlantic.

Thanks once again for your message and your kind offer to call the Coroner’s Office. The deputy I spoke to today was incredibly helpful and friendly.

It is very strange that Edith should have ended up in San Bernadino as twice this year San Bernadino has cropped up in our lives. Firstly I met a visiting policewoman from San B who is the half sister of a friend of ours here in France, and then rather excitingly, my mother in law discovered that my husband’s grandfather’s third cousin is also known as the Hunchbacked Killer of San Bernadino! He was called Alfred Horace Wells and killed three people and went to the gas chamber in 1942. Google him!
