DEVELOPING: Louisiana State University is urging all staff and students to evacuate its campus Monday after a bomb threat was reported.

"Please evacuate as calmly and quickly as possible," a statement read on the school's website.

RNN) - Louisiana State University, located in Baton Rouge, LA says that a bomb threat has been reported on campus and to evacuate immediately.

"A bomb threat has been reported on the LSU Campus. Please evacuate as calmly and quickly as possible. Check lsu.edu for updates. LSUEOC," the alert reads in a red strip across the top of the school's website.

Students were notified by a central texting program that automatically alerts them to dangers on campus. The alert was sent at 11:32 a.m. CT.

A police official told CNN that a SWAT team in on campus to assist with the evacuations, and that bomb sniffing dogs have been deployed.

The Louisiana State Police told the Associated Press that authorities are talking to officials in Texas, North Dakota and Ohio to see if there are any similarities to the threats received Friday.

There are 30,000 students, professors and university employees located on the Baton Rouge campus, but it was not clear how many were present at the time of the threat.

"Monday ... is a very big class day, so I think the majority of that group was probably on campus at the time," Calongne said.

By early afternoon Monday, the LSU campus was largely deserted with roads leading onto campus blocked by police. The major arteries heading away from campus were congested, packed with traffic.

Catherine Lacoste, an 18-year-old freshman and architecture major, said she received notification of the bomb threat through the emergency text message system while working in a studio on a project. She double-checked the information and then evacuated. She didn't seem worried about the threat, however.

"I'm going to go home, take a nap and hopefully campus will be open again when I wake up," Lacoste said.

I think it is amazing how fast the campus was evacuated. LSU campus is huge and spread out.

Are these threats just random threats or do we have copycats?

I hope they find whoever did this and charge them.
A lot of money have been wasted on these evacuations.
