    Still missing

Hi, everyone. I joined because a google search on Alfredo Rodriguez brought me here and I wanted to let you know that he has not been found. There was an article in the local paper about him Sunday, March 10. I will link it, although you have to be a subscriber to read it. I have the article here, but when I scan it's too small to read and I don't know how to fix that.

The gist of the story is they got nothin' on this guy. He walked out the door and disappeared.

I'm trying to attach one page of the story I scanned.

    You're welcome, and thank you!

I don't know anyone in this story personally. According to the article, three days before he disappeared he was at a bar where he was drinking and giving the bartender money to play the song "Hurt" recorded by Johnny Cash, over and over again. His daughter said he had quit drinking several years ago, after he had a stroke. She stated she knew he had started drinking again some, but didn't think it had anything to do with his disappearance. The bartender stated he "said he was really, really sad" and that he "wanted that to be the first and last song he heard" that day. Three days later he disappeared.

On the day he disappeared he asked his daughter's boyfriend (he lived with the daughter and her boyfriend) for $20, left and never returned.

The daughter says he "loved his family too much" and "loved life too much" to harm himself. She feels someone else harmed him, but doesn't know who or why anyone would.

His glasses, phone, clothing, all his personal belongings were left behind. There has been no activity on his bank account and his disability payments were "not collected" according to the article.

The police department did open a file on him, but they also told the family "he had a right to leave if he wanted to" so I'm not sure how much police investigation took place.

    I hurt myself today,
To see if I still feel,
    I focus on the pain,
    The only thing that's real,

    The needle tears a hole,
    The old familiar sting,
Try to kill it all away,
    But I remember everything,

    [Chorus]
    What have I become,
    My sweetest friend,
    Everyone I know,
    Goes away in the end,

And you could have it all,
    My empire of dirt,
    I will let you down,
    I will make you hurt,

I wear this crown of thorns,
    Upon my liars chair,
    Full of broken thoughts,
    I cannot repair,

    Beneath the stains of time,
    The feelings disappear,
    You are someone else,
    I am still right here,

    [Chorus]

And you could have it all,
    My empire of dirt,
    I will let you down,
    I will make you hurt,

    If I could start again,
    A million miles away,
    I will keep myself,
    I would find a way,

IA - Male Body Found Burlington. Near Hy-Vee Store. 22 January 2015

City crews found a body in a Burlington creek bed Thursday morning, authorities said. The crews were checking sanitary sewer sites in a wooded area north of a Burlington Hy-Vee store when they spotted the body. They contacted Burlington police at about 8 a.m. Thursday, the news release stated...

Investigators and members of the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner removed the body from the creek bed. The body is that of a male victim, but his identity has yet to be determined, authorities said Thursday. Investigators were not able to make any immediate conclusions on the cause of death.

    Also from the same article…

Investigators were not able to make any immediate conclusions on the cause of death. The body had been "reduced to skeletal remains, indicating the decedent had been at that location for a considerable period of time," the news release stated.

Too many to sift through (mainly older teens) without any identifying factors narrowing the search, IMO.

In the video, the newscaster states that the HyVee in question is located on East Agency Street. There is a wooded area just to the north between the grocery store and Hwy 34 but I don't see a creek bed. There is also a small park (Cottonwood) just to the south.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

We are all one poor choice from being a subject on this forum. Think twice.

On the other hand I think there is a good possibility that the person was a homeless person who died of natural causes and no one bothered to declare him missing.

I came back to post the info about the skeletal remains but I see you've got it. Haven't heard any more regarding this yet. It's in the general area of where he lived, within easy walking distance. It would be nice for the family to at least know where he is. I don't know how much they will be able to determine about cause of death.

I'm glad he's been identified but it's too bad it ended like this. Poor man.
