that's too bad ... I really thought he would be THE one to not get addicted to heavy drugs

I hope he gets better and keeps on being the BJA I've always respected as a musician

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is out of rehab and will join his band mates on a just-announced concert tour.

The popular punk band released new tour dates and Armstrong told fans in a statement, "I just want to thank you all for the love and support you've shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn't gone unnoticed and I'm eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I'm getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on."

Billie Joe Armstrong Shares Story Of His ‘Gruesome’ Detox From Drugs And Alcohol

"Getting years of drugs and alcohol out of your system isn’t easy!"

"As part of his no holds barred interview about his long-time battle with alcoholism and drug addiction in the new issue of Rolling Stone, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong opens up about his “gruesome” detox process and rehabilitation following his September 2012 onstage breakdown, and RadarOnline.com has the details."

“I think it’s safe to say there were some choices she had to make,” he explains. “Am I going to get kicked to the curb? I’m sure the thought crossed her mind – that if I didn’t get sober, I could potentially lose all of that stuff. I could have lost the band too. I didn’t realize how destructive I was. I thought everybody was in on the joke. But I was the joke.”

“I played onstage loaded a lot. I’d have anywhere from two to six beers and a couple of shots before I went onstage, then go and play the gig and drink for the rest of the evening on the bus. Fall asleep, wake up the next day, feel like s**t, do sound-check…it was over and over again. In that way, I was a functioning alcoholic.”

Despite “functioning,” he admits that he struggled to get clean for almost two decades, during which he experienced several bottoms that included “waking up in a strange house on a couch,” having numerous meltdowns onstage and waking up in parks after blackouts.

"Armstrong, who maintains that he was completely blacked out during the infamous I Heart Radio performance, doesn’t like to be reminded about the sordid details of his behavior that night."

“People will remind me a little bit. Or I’ll see a photograph. And it makes me so sick,” he divulges."

"He also has no desire to watch the footage – which went viral on the internet."

“No. I can’t go there. That’s my last drink. Which is good – it’s documented. Anytime I feel like drinking, I can think about it.”

"Though Armstrong admits “there is still the obsession for alcohol,” as well as “sleepless nights,” he is totally committed to sobriety, characterizing his regiment of recovery as “meditation through prayer,” as well as meetings and common sense."
