Bodies of U.S. couple killed in St. Maarten to be handed over; suspect due in court

Oh my. Bumbling idiot Taco Stein of Joran Van der Sloot/Robyn Gardner fame is involved in the investigation.
Did they kick him out of Aruba to nearby smaller Sint Maarten?

From quoted article:

"Their bodies were discovered Friday at their oceanfront residence in Cupecoy, in what St. Maarten's Solicitor General Taco Stein described as "an ugly scene.
Stein, who was once solicitor general for Aruba, said authorities "are not certain of the motive in the case."

Update
The hearing was closed to the press and public, but Solicitor General Taco Stein said later that the magistrate ruled there was enough evidence to hold Johnson for at least 10 more days pending further investigation. Prosecutors must return to court after that if they want to keep holding Johnson.

Like déjà vu. Following the same familiar route as Joran vanderSloot.

A lengthy article with lots of detail.

The St. Martin News Network has reported that Johnson is suspected of being involved in a robbery at the Happy Star Chinese Restaurant on the island Sept. 19, supposedly the same day as the Kings were killed. Investigators reportedly recovered a car used in the holdup and several incriminating items, including credit cards and a cellphone belonging to Michael King, were found inside, the news agency stated.

Plus this is good news too so Taco Stein can not hose this one up.

A spokesman for the prosecutor's office in St. Maarten said Wednesday the FBI asked to assist in the investigation, and the offer was accepted.

(CNN) -- A 28-year-old Jamaican-born man has confessed to his involvement in the stabbing deaths of an American couple on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Police arrested a second suspect who happens to be Johnson's 17 year old cousin. He has been identified as Jeremiah Chevon Mills, a Dutch national of Jamaican descent. Mills is expected to appear before the judge of instruction on Thursday.

Note. The comments from Sint Maarten residents are very troublesome on the second article. Pointing fingers at the business partner of the Kings. Apparently a previous one also met his death dealing with Topper Daboul.

Interesting. According to this telephone interview with Taco Stein, there was no evidence of 'robbery.'

Michael King, Thelma King, Slain US Couple, Being Autopsied By St. Maarten Authorities

Since then, it was reported that cell phone and credit cards belonging to Kings, were found in car used in restaurant robbery. How convenient.
The whole scenario sounds kind of funny. First brutally murder two folks and then top it off with a rather ordinary robbery on same night.
Besides after Joran van der Sloot, I consider Taco Stein not a reliable source.

Clad in a red t-shirt, black pants, and red and black Nike sneakers with his hair plait in thick singles, Mills managed to stick up his middle finger to reporters as he was entering the court room in handcuffs. The young man who is a Dutch national was recently released from prison for an armed robbery he committed at the Global Wealth Trade Store in the Yogesh Building. Even though Mills spent only three months behind bars, he showed no fear or remorse for the crimes he is being accused of. Mills is accused of being one of the suspects who brutally murdered Micheal and Thelma King somewhere between September 19th, 2012 and September 21st, 2012 when their bodies were found in their Cupe Coy condominium by their business partner.

Thanks for the update rotterdam.....from your link:

It appears as though Woolford was following the news closely and as soon as it was published that the first suspect confessed he purchased a ticket to the St. Thomas US Virgin Islands in an effort to escape the long arms of the law, but police managed to contact their counterparts in the US Virgin Islands who quickly apprehended the suspect. Woolford waived his extradition rights based on US law and he was brought back to St. Maarten on Friday. He was immediately arrested at the Princess Juliana International Airport and will appear before the judge of instruction on Monday.

Not a very smart individual. Involved in murdering two US citizens and then trying to escape to US territory. :banghead:

No wonder he waved extradition. Did not know that US had 10 year visas.
And wow , arrested by the FBI in St Thomas, not local LE.
Odd suspect, apparently had a decent job and girlfriend. And I guess no previous record or he would not have a US visa.

SMN News learnt that when Woolford was arrested in the US Virgin Island he was informed that he could face the death penalty if the case is tried in the US territory. The source said at that point Woolford waived his rights to extradition and he was brought back to St. Maarten on Friday where he was immediately arrested.
He left St. Maarten on a Guyanese passport since he is the holder of a US 10 year visa.
managed to escape from St. Maarten last week Wednesday when he booked a flight to St. Thomas US Virgin Islands where he was arrested upon arrival by the FBI

St. Maarten prosecutors mull appeal of verdicts in King murder case

January 2, 2014
Prosecutors on St. Maarten are considering an appeal to The Hague after an island appeals court this week decided to reduce the sentences for three men convicted in connection with the robbery and killings of a Mount Pleasant couple.

The Common Court of Justice's decision Monday to trim the trio's sentences followed a day-long appeals hearing Dec. 12 that functioned like a second trial, with the judges questioning the three suspects about their actions on the day Michael and Thelma King were killed.
