Off Topic. I hope this beautiful young woman is found alive and well. I hope this isn't a case of 'here we go again'.

AN Irish woman who works for ABC radio in Melbourne has vanished while walking home from a Brunswick bar.
Jill Meagher, 29, was seen leaving The Brunswick Green bar on Sydney Rd at about midnight, before walking to Bar Etiquette where she was last seen between 1.30am and 2am on Saturday.

Snipped:

A WOMAN who mysteriously disappeared after a night out with work friends insisted she wanted to walk home alone, a friend has revealed.
Police have launched a major investigation into the disappearance of Jill Meagher.
Her distraught husband, Thomas, now fears the worst.
The 29- year-old has not been seen since she left Brunswick's Bar Etiquette about 1.30am on Saturday.
Det Acting Sgt Steve Bull said police were treating the disappearance of Ms Meagher, who works for ABC radio, very seriously.
"We have concerns for her safety. This is totally out of character for Jill and we just haven't been able to find her," he said.
ABC radio colleague Tom Wright told the Herald Sun he was the last person to see Ms Meagher. Mr Wright offered to walk her home, but she declined.

Just looked at the CCTV yet again. At about 2:07-2:08, the Blue Hoodie has walked to the left, but turns around to face back towards where Jill is standing, and if you look - just in that couple of frames - through the shop window just ABOVE that placard or screen or whatever it is, and just below where the curly metal scroll sticks out from the end of the clothes rack on the left - his face is almost clearly visible as he looks back towards Jill. Right at the far left end of the shop window.

Does anyone else see that?

I was using the YouTube version of the CCTV clip, full screen, and it was at the 2:07-8 mark, from here:

Some reminders:

1) we are a victim friendly forum: this means until and unless Jill's husband is named a person of interest or suspect there is no sleuthing or speculation about him

2) be kind to one another

3) do not copy and paste comments from social media: the only facebook allowed is the official site by the family and main stream media.

4) twitter links must be from main stream media

Just re-posting - the switch to the new thread happened just as I posted this at the end of the old one. Sorry Mods.

Ok - here's one for your investigoogling, Alioop and others

Open a browser tab and go to

maps.google.com

Make sure you're in Satellite mode. Not just plain Maps mode.

So you're looking at Google Maps as opposed to Google Earth. Theoretically, the imagery should be the same, from the same servers. But if you go to Hope St Brunswick Victoria, and frame up on that area of interest, with the Duchess Boutique near the bottom of your screen, Hope St near the top, and Ovens St near the left.

Now you'll see the laneway where the handbag was found - and it has two cars in it, one of which is a white car, and one black. it would be a reasonable assumption that the white car is a regular there, and is the same one beside which the bag was found.

The thing that concerns me somewhat is that heading down that laneway leads to various waste lots, some with fences (and we can't see how high they are on the top down view), and this conglomeration of empty lots, and waste ground leads all the way back down towards the back of - the Duchess Boutique. There are a couple of sheds out the back of the Boutique and number 519 next door, plus several skips (dumpsters) laying around the area. It looks pretty desolate, and would be unlit, I assume.

I've never been there, so I don't know how this translates to conditions on the ground - has anyone here been down that lane to the end and explored at all?

It just looks like the sort of place where you'd drag somebody if your intention was of the nasty variety. I wonder if that's where poor Jill was dragged? I'm sure the police would have searched that entire area twice over at least, though...

DETECTIVES hunting for missing Irish woman Jill Meagher have said her husband Tom is not being treated as a suspect "in any way".

Inspector John Potter said a search of the couple’s apartment in Melbourne, Australia, was a routine search.

He added that security camera footage from the apartment complex on Lux Way shows Ms Meagher did not make it home on the night she went missing.

The Co Louth native had been out socialising with work friends from ABC radio when she disappeared as she walked home alone shortly after 1.30am on Saturday.

Police have released CCTV footage taken from a bridal shop which shows Ms Meagher talking with a man in a blue hoodie about 1.43am. Moments later the two are seen walking off together.

Insp Potter said this man has not yet come forward to police and they are “extremely keen” to speak to him.

Officers will now examine each frame of the footage of her last-known movements as she walked home from the bar in the Brunswick suburb of Melbourne.

Police are trying to establish whether the man in the footage is following her.

I tried to get a couple of shots of bh's face, here are the results. Sorry for the poor resolution.

That's about right. You couldn't pay me enough to wander around there at night! Maybe not even during the day, to be frank.

I know locals might like to have a look (and help our fellow sleuthers long distance) but I really feel it's a bad idea to get in the police's way, you know?

Of course - perfectly right. I was thinking that perhaps somebody here may already be familiar with that area, rather than going down there now and scrambling about.

Exactly, I wouldn't walk around there in a pink fit.

I have to ask, what is a "pink fit" exactly? I can understand it by the context, but just curious about its specific origin. I tried googling it, but did not find any info. TIA

Hmmm, 'a month of Sundays', i.e. never.

It's an old Aussie expression, who knows where it came from :)

Ok folks, I've made a map of the area but can't get it to save as an image - I'll attach it as a word doc so if anyone can paste it into the thread, please do! I've also just realised I didn't add the location where the bag was found, so add that too.... Thanks! I need to get to sleep - here's hoping there's good news in the morning.

Doc, I google earthed it and I agree, lots of places to go from that lane way off hope street. I don't believe the police search missed the handbag but surely they haven't missed finding Jill around there. But did they search every single building and garage and not just rely on the people living in those buildings. What if that's where the person who took her lives or someone they know? Very scary thought.

Doc Watson will have some suitable medical explanation for sure!
