I've looked at the pics of the culvert numerous times but today I noticed something I missed before. It looks like a tire track right over the grass at the top if it, like a car had driven over it. Does anybody else see this or is it just the terrain fooling my eyes?

I'm seeing tire tracks by the nearside of the culvert. That is the area which LE covered with the blue tarp. MOO

I just noticed that this morning too.

Ugh....Websleuths is certainly a lesson in patience. Yes, I have pop up blocker and everything else. Still having problems. Practicing a lot of yoga breathing this morning. Make coffee...refresh, breath, refresh, get cereal, refresh, let dog out, refresh, Grrrr, Grrrr, and Grrrrrrrrr.

I think the tarp is covering tire tracks. Also in Cranky's photo you notice there is little vegetation directly around the pipe. In Colorado coyotes use these drainage pipes and trails as their own little highway. I still think it's possible that the remains were placed in the drainage pipe. Perp parked on top and put remains in garbage bag in pipe. Perhaps a predator then dragged the bag through the fence, catching the bag on the barbed wire in the process. So it looks like remains were placed in the open, but in reality they were initially placed in the pipe.

I'm still trying to figure out how Jessica ended up in the area where she was found ... and I'm inclined to think that she was taken there right after she was abducted. There is a road that winds around on the hills near the area, and the two shacks seem like ideal locations for hiding a vehicle for several hours and so on. Jessica could have been taken from one of the shacks to the area near the culvert alive in the middle of the night and no one would have seen anything. The surrounding hills seem like a possible location for the remaining body parts. For some reason, I don't see the perp driving around with evidence in his vehicle for too long.

Maybe those tracks are what the blue tarp was protecting.

Glad to see that the incident of Saturday night is resolved with the 18 year old turning himself in. I suspect there may be additional incidents like that before LE (and the community tips) track down and capture the real perp.

If it bothers me to think that the perp had her for at least 8 hours before anyone hit the panic button, I cannot imagine how mom and the rest of her loved ones are feeling. :(

I'm thinking that he took her immediately to a place that was isolated and where he was not going to be noticed even if he was there for awhile. I don't think he took her to his home and did his unspeakable acts there, then took her remains where they were found.

I'm more inclined to believe that he did take her straight to the general area where they found her. I'm hoping LE checked out each and every known old cabin / ruins etc, and they sprayed it down with luminol!! In fact, I'm hoping they sprayed as much of the nearby landscape / trees etc as possible for any sign of this guy or Jessica having been there!

If there was a tiretrack over the top of the culvert, I'm sure LE would have made a mould of it as evidence. But tires are very easy to change. :(

I just thought I'd point out that since they left the garbage truck sitting there the whole time they processed the crime scene, it may be, uh, involved in removal as well as discovery? I hope that's clear because I really don't want to be gruesome at breakfast...

I'm not convinced it's resolved. I hope the young man gets some counselling, or has been scared into common sense, and stops stalking his ex. That is not the best of behavior.

No, let me rephrase that. The truth is almost as scary as the thing we thought he was guilty of in the first place.

There did seem to be tire tracks over the culvert. Should have taken a close up of that area, but didn't think of it at the time.

Your theory that the remains were placed in the culvert makes a lot of sense. Pattridge park is full of coyotes.

That would also explain why there appears to be a ripped black plastic garbage bag off to the side of the scene. (Sorry for all the back to back posts. I just got caught up.)
