North Carolina authorities confirmed Thursday that the victim of an unsolved homicide last week is Daphne Forster, 38, a 1992 graduate of South Albany High School.

Her body was found Oct. 10 near a bridge in a woodsy, rural part of northern Chatham County, but it wasn’t positively identified until Thursday.

Forster’s father, Jerry Forster of Albany, said a local memorial service will be held and she will be buried with family members at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum.

Pittsboro, N.C. — The body of Daphne Forster, 38, was found Oct. 10 along Chicken Bridge Road in northern Chatham County. She was last seen at about 10:20 p.m. Oct. 9 at Cruizer's Convenient Store in Pittsboro.

Her blue 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier was found early Monday outside a hotel on Guess Road in Durham, authorities said. Deputies impounded the car, and State Bureau of Investigation analysts checked it for evidence.

She was last seen at Cruizers near where she worked at 10:20 PM the night before she was murdered. She worked at the brewery nearby. Local word is that she was very, very nice and that the murderer was someone she knew. What a senseless tragedy.

It always seems that the nice people end up being murder victims. I never hear anyone saying anything bad about them. It's sad that the good are taken advantage of and victimized. Hopefully her being so well-liked will work to keep the story in the news and will keep the police pounding the pavement!!!

One of the accused seems like a psychopath. He's only 25 and has been arrested multiple times, including for strangling a girlfriend at an apartment complex where there is another unsolved murder (and not too far from where DF's body was found), a drive-by shooting when he was only 19, multiple DUIs, assaulting an officer, multiple firearms offenenses. I think he's only been out of prison since May.

I am glad he's off the street and hope he's convicted of this crime, if guilty.

Brian Keith Whitfield, who was charged with killing Daphne Marie Forster, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Whitfield, 25, wrote a letter of confession and also told his attorneys more details about how and why he killed Forster just before Thursday's hearing in Chatham County Superior Court...

Assistant District Attorney Kayley Taber told Superior Court Judge Michael O'Foghludha that Whitfield became angry at Forster because he believed she had disrespected his boss. They argued, but later she agreed to go to his house after work. Whitfield said he wanted to sell drugs to some of Forster's biker friends... Whitfield assaulted Forster but then let her leave the house. However, when she got in her car, he dragged her back in the house, knocked her to the floor, wrapped her head and mouth with duct tape and strangled her to death with a cell phone cord, Taber said.
