Minnie Mitchell Wickliffe
Mrs. Gustavus Woodson Wickliffe (Minnie Mitchell) died in Los Angeles on April 12, 1960. She was 87 years old. She was born in Oberlin on August 4, 1872, [graduated from OHS in 1888 and from Oberlin College in 1892,] and was married on July 3, 1901. Her husband died in 1921. Prior to her marriage she taught at Emerson Institute in Mobile, Alabama, and in high schools in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and St. Louis, Missouri. She was a member of the Women’s Political Study Club and the Mount Hollywood Congregational Church. In 1935 she reported on a college questionnaire that she was a housewife and owner and manager of a house court in the Los Angeles area.
Mrs. Wickliffe is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Caroline Wickliffe Antoine of Washington, D.C., a son, Gustavus Woodson Wickliffe, of Los Angeles, and a grandson and granddaughter, both of that city.

aunt died in 2000 aged 92...so any living cousins would be 70's or 80's now?

He had a sister though, I think that may be the key is to find her name and see if she is alive or had any kids?
 
So most of the family stayed in that area, I wonder if our unclaimed was married?

Mrs. Wickliffe Leaves Estate Of $50,000
Mrs. Carolyne Wickliffe Antoine, of Washington, D.C., was named executrix last week in the will of her mother, Mrs. Minnie ayde Wickliffe, 87, who died at the Madison Lodge Sanitarium here April 12.
The will, filed through the law offices of Miller and Maddox, names four other heirs to the estate valued at close to $50,000. Those named, in addition to Mrs. Antoine, are Gustavus Woodson Wickliffe, a son who is a former Hollywood High School athlete; his wife, Viola; grandson Gustavus Woodson Wickliffe III; a granddaughter, Anita Wickliffe, all of 2934 Westview avenue.
Mrs. Wickliffe was born in Oberlin, Ohio, attended Oberlin College and later taught at Emerson Institute in Mobile, Ala., and in high schools in Chattanooga, Tenn. and St.Louis, Mo. She married Atty. Gustavus Woodson Wickliffe in Los Anegeles in 1901, but made her home in San Francisco until 1908 when the family moved back to this city. She was a member of the AKA sorority, the Women's Political Study Club and Mount Hollywood Congregational Church, from which she was buried April 18.

I am guessing that Viola would be his mother. It seems as if she was an only child...

I thought about this yesterday -- how about the Mount Hollywood Congregational Church.

Seems Minnie was quite an involved lady. Perhaps her children also attended, perhaps even her grandchildren..etc?

I know my one side of my family ALL of them attended same church for generations.

Just a thought to contact them perhaps?
 
This seemed like such a prominent family, even starting back in the 20's! It seems like there should be traces somewhere!
