Here is the thread on RSOs.

You can link to RSOs in the area. You cannot sleuth them other than what is listed on this thread. If you have a question about a particular case and a particular RSO and what can and cannot be posted in depth you can post your question for administration on this thread.

((please note: questioning of what can and cannot be posted and moderation questions should not be placed on the general discussion thread. I hope that helps. If anyone has a further question please pm a moderator or administrator.))

New Thread - everyone, please take a minute to review the rules and etiquitte right here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=159"]The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

REMEMBER: We don't sleuth or disparage or insinuate about family UNLESS LE or MSM give us reason to. If that happens, the mods will let you know.

ALSO - we don't post random pics of people on facebook. We DO NOT involve the innocent in these horrific cases.

Sometimes you might stumble across something that you think is pertinent, but is against TOS to post. If that happens, the best course of action is to make a note of it and keep it UNDER YOUR HAT. Don't post here. Wait to see if the parametersof the case change so that the info does become important. If in doubt, contact a Mod for help.

    Thanks,

    Salem

    Social Networks

Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)

Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

I haven't caught up yet, so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned already today. A couple of observations on the marks on the cross:

    1) The three marks are there for a purpose. I've seen a ton a crosses and checked hundreds, if not thousands, now online and consulted with religious expert friends. It is not customary to buy a cross with three marks in it like that. Moreover, the "length" of the slashes matches the length of the marks on the back. So, they might be potentially made by the same instrument. (Like scoring something with a coin - but the depth in the middle would be greater than the ends - just an example)

    2) I woke up this morning thinking about the "S" on the other side of the cross. Please say if this has already been brought up and/or debunked: What if it is a crude map??? Thinking if someone drew a map, they'd put the location where Jessica was captured in the "middle." Using that, the bottom left line - for example - is where her body (or part) was found. The line extending from the "middle" up to the left could be pointing to where the backpack was found. The top line, which angles to the "east" is pointing at....what???? There are several parks and open space areas up there near Dillon Rd and Northwest Pkway where that line points.

Granted, this all makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I'm throwing it out there anyway.

IF the marks were all made by the same instrument (point 1, above), it would be difficult to draw a "map" to any sort of scale, so the lengths may not be completely relevant but perhaps the general angles.

For whatever reason, I do not think the lines nor "S"/map on the cross are satanic. If they were, wouldn't we see other satanic symbols with lines like this somewhere?? I'm not an expert (or even close!) on the occult, but I don't think satanism uses crosses very much as symbols? And, the stuff found graffiti'ed on the abandoned mine, in my opinion, could be nothing more than kids goofing off - YouTube is replete with examples.

OK - so that's my big thought for the day: WHAT IF IT'S A MAP?

(Also: very difficult to type, but I am not convinced they have all of her yet)

Near the end of the last thread someone asked when the Amber Alert was issued for Jessica. That happened at 9:15 pm on the day she disappeared.

I think my greater point was missed in that, just a random backpack outside would be noticed and reported especially if it was 5 days after she was missing and the whole city knew she was missing. The entire point in bringing up terrorism was that EVEN if people didn't know she was missing you would think they would be vigilant enough to realize the backpack was out of place. My statement was merely a reason why I believe that the backpack was left after the fact not something dumped and not found for 5 days. When I search for lost dogs I not only walk the area but I also drive every road in the area so even search and rescue and people wanting to help would have driven down this street.

Thanks and someone just said that the backpack was found 5 days later? No way that backpack was left during the day and not seen.

This is just my opinion, but if I saw a childs backpack sitting on a curb alone, I wouldn't think anything about it. The first thing that would come to my mind is that a child sat it down and went to do something else.

Yep, me too cindersoot. I wouldn't bother it...unless it was there for a couple days. Then I might check it out.

Investigators in Jessica Ridgeway murder case look beyond open space

"Based on search-area boundaries provided by Materasso, an estimated 24 square miles have been searched, with varying levels of scrutiny, by more than 200 officers from more than 40 agencies. Search dogs and remote-controlled helicopters with video and infrared technology aided the investigation."

"Evidence can be anything from scraps of fabric or blood trails to things as subtle as a patch of grass that's bent in an unusual way, possibly with a footprint or tire track hiding underneath.
Searchers often walk or crawl side by side at arm's length in lines, grids or some other pattern chosen to least disturb the site, he said.
"It's the needle-in-the-haystack analogy," Griffin said. "You may not even know what you're looking for.""

Authorities have not said whether they've recovered all of Jessica's remains.

So your saying that 5 days after an Amber Alert has been called for a missing girl a random backpack at say 11:30 in the afternoon next to the street wouldn't have caused suspious?

The community must have been on high alert at that point. Just saying no way that type of thing goes unnoticed unless people are seriously nonvigilant.

In the last thread someone said the backpack was found several days after Jessica disappeared. She vanished on Friday and the backpack was reported to police on Sunday, having been placed there between 6:45 PM and 12am to 1am (Saturday evening/night).

Disappeared 10/5. Backpack placed 10/6 and reported to LE on 10/7.

The man who found the backpack didn't even know Jessica was missing. We forget that not everyone keeps up with the news...even if its local.

The homeowner who found the backpack left home around 6:30 pm that night. He did not see the backpack at that time. He noticed it on his return between midnight and 1 am. The next morning he checked it out and posted a note on the neighborhood email list about a lost item. From this, we know within a few hours when the backpack was dropped off by the killer.

Good I thought it was weird that it was 5 days from her being missing and the bag showing up. This reinforces what I said about it being likely that that perp was involved with the searches. Do it after dark after people have gone home from the searches. At this point the community was out looking for her not just the police and search agencies. Is it a coincidence that the bag was found just outside of the search perimeter? Or that it was placed nicely.

This was planted for a reason.
