    TX - S. Padre Island, HispFem UP10708, 43-55, tattooed lips & eyebrows, Oct'12

Hi all! Hope I did this right! This woman was just found, going to assume skeletal remains. She was found covered in lime, buried on beach between sandhills and shore, partially unearthed recently due to weather-associated high tides. South Padre Island.

    https://identifyus.org/en/cases/10708

    Ethnicity: White Hispanic/Latino
Hair: coarse, straight to wavy, approximately 17 inches long
Clothes: Dark color tank top, "Paris Blues" brand, size M. Blue, green, and white plaid shorts, labeled as part of two-piece girls sleepwear set, "Komar Kids" brand, size L/G 10/12. Red bikini panties with sanitary pad in crotch.
Tattoos: Black tattooed eyebrows. Red tattooed lips (entire lips).
    Piercing: Each earlobe pierced once.
Prints: Partial prints obtained by ICE, no match in their system.

She was in advanced stages of decomposition and not all body parts were recovered.

She must have had a petite frame to be able to wear girls' 10/12 pajama bottoms...not necessarily short, but quite slender.

Assuming that the state of the remains means she was buried several months to a year or two ago, I came up with these petite missing women 18-30 who are from or might have gone to Texas. I went a little young on the age range, because of the pajama bottoms. And I see on rechecking that I misread the upper limit. It's actually 50. So I need to go back to check a couple of other women.

Kimberly Escobar left from Connecticut with an older man, might have been heading to CA or TX: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/..._kimberly.html

Mayra Sandoval was kidnapped in Georgia by an older man believed to be heading to Mexico, so they'd have had to go right past Padre Island: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...al2_mayra.html

NamUs says 5 feet tall and about 95 pounds, so a very petite woman.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

Namus says the postmortem interval is weeks.

It sounds to me like she would have to have died quite recently since they were able to tell that she had
    Black tattooed eyebrows.
    Red tattooed lips (entire lips).
    Each earlobe pierced once.
and partial fingerprints were recovered as well.

Since then, Fuentes has been reaching out to consular offices, federal agencies and church groups, all in hopes of finding Marilu. In late October, Fuentes had been in contact with consular officials and local authorities after the skeletal remains of a woman found inCameronCountymatched Marilu’s description.

“If that is her at least now we can get closure and giver her proper burial,” Fuentes said at the time.

On Oct. 30, it was determined that the remains were not Marilu’s, he said.
    Heartbreaking story.

Decomposed body found at beach still not identified

The body was found on Oct. 10, 2012 and investigators think the woman is anywhere between 30 and 35-years-old. However, Lucio said last year that a pathologist who examined the body thought she may be between 40 and 50-years-old.

This one bugs me, as do all of the unidentified remains found on Padre Island. Especially this pregnant woman, found only a few miles away in 1998: http://doenetwork.org/cases/226uftx.html
    http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94608

    There are many more.

I have a feeling this more recent case is related to cartel violence or trafficking. In the media they say no obvious signs of trauma but the NamUs file says her bilateral feet were missing which is odd... I guess it could be due to animal activity (she was found due to coyote activity) but mutilation like that is very common in cartel murders. Also, although it's not an exclusive trait of cartels they are known to use lime when burying victims. It all just reads like a cold, "business-like" dump by a somewhat experienced person.

Some background info on the area may help. This area is a sort of highway for both human and drug trafficking. It's easier to explain with pictures so bear with me. Sorry this is lengthy but I think this background info may help explain many of these UID cases.

Here's a general view of the area. Red line is Mexican border. I've marked where this woman was found and the beach access road used as a landmark. I've also marked the Falfurrias and Sarita Border Patrol Checkpoints. There has been a rise of illegal activity (immigration, drugs and UIDs found) in the area deserts, ranches and on Padre Island as people try to avoid the checkpoints. I've also marked the Mansfield Channel which seperates North Padre Island from South Padre Island (where this woman was found), and is known coloquially as the "land cut."

You can drive literally on the beach from Corpus Christi, TX (largest city in the area) through the National Seashore, for nearly 60 miles south to this channel. You can't cross to S. Padre Island by foot or car though due to the channel. Vice versa, you can drive from the resort town South Padre Island to that beach access road, then on the beach all the way to where the body was found, then on north to Mansfield Channel. Basically, it's highly likely this woman was last alive south of where she was found rather than north. Also, immigrants coming up from Mexico / South Padre area have been known to walk their way up the beach, swim the channel and then continue walking north on North Padre Island. There's also been drug activity across the channel and in the area waterways in general... involving boats or dropping off and picking up of packages floating in the water.

    Close up:

And even closer... based on the description this satellite image should be of the general area she was found - and the whole 100 mi + island is similar in layout. Red line represents the beach and where you can drive - this is where 99% of the normal legal tourist activities happen. Yellow line represents the dunes. It sounds like she was found against or in the dunes near the beach. The green area represents the marshy grasslands on the other side of the dunes that you can't usually see from the beach. There are no trails... driving prohibited... not a lot of legitimate traffic so it sees quite a bit of clandestine activity since it's out of sight. There's also been drug activity via boat in both the Laguna Madre and Gulf.

All of this information also leads me to believe that if the woman found in 1998 is not Eulaila LaPorte, she may have been an immigrant who planned to cross the channel (hence the swimsuit), or she may have even washed up from a Mexican beach.

FBI officials and Cameron County Sheriff's detectives are hoping a three-dimensional bust, created to give investigators and the public a better idea of what the woman looked before her death, will help them crack the case.

The face of the victim was essentially brought back from the dead by Texas Ranger forensic artist Jorge Molina using the unidentified woman's remains.

    Two ruleouts on Namus, https://identifyus.org/en/cases/10708

    Exclusions
The following people have been ruled out as being this decedent:

First Name Last Name Year of Birth State LKA

    Elizabeth Rogers 1931 North Carolina
    Colleen Voitik McHugh 1963 Illinois

And there's also Marilu Noeli Alas Santos, who probably isn't listed because she's not missing from the US and isn't listed in Namus.
