"On April 4, 1978, the Hewitt Police Department found a man who was shot and killed stuffed into a concrete culvert off of Sun Valley Rd., near the Hewitt Dr. intersection. However, after months of investigating police were not able to find any leads or suspects and dropped the case.

With new crime solving technology though, the current Hewitt Chief of Police believes now is the perfect time to re-open this case and find the murderer."

I think there are a lot of good hints- this UID has a few unique tattoos and a unique necklace.

Note: it looks like this UID has DNA but not yet submitted. Two of the three above suggestions have DNA in the system already.

HEWITT - The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Hewitt Police Department want the public's help to identify a man whose remains were found in 1978 in Hewitt.

The victim was white, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 128 pounds, with brown eyes and shoulder-length light brown hair, a moustache and a small goatee.
At the time of his death, he was wearing Levi’s jeans, brown boots and a long-sleeved shirt with a dark blue/white floral pattern. He was also wearing a white puka shell necklace with black beads. A silver-colored “Snoopy” medallion was found at the scene.

That article is making the rounds again -- just saw it on Facebook. Praying this is the year he is identified.

A new article on this case....

Hewitt Police seek leads in department's oldest cold case: 'Disco Dan'
Stephen Adams, KCEN 10:53 AM. CDT June 16, 2017

The Hewitt Police Department is renewing calls for help solving its oldest cold case.

Detectives opened a homicide investigation in April 1978 after someone discovered the body of a man believed to be in his 20s or 30s with a single gunshot wound inside a drainage culvert in a field near Spring Valley Road and South Haven Drive.

Hewitt is close to Waco. It's off of 1-35 which makes me think of the common D/FW to Austin trek. Basically he could have come from anywhere. Looks like he would have been a fun guy - or "groovy" as we'd say back in the day!

I know! He has a very unique look about him! I’m a little surprised there’s only one exclusion for him!

I’ve started noticing Waco and Abilene more often than I used to. They’re both located pretty close to the middle of the state...I was going to try and work my way up towards the panhandle and see what I can find! ;)

What are the odds??? This is the first MP I pulled up after posting this thread! There are no mention of tattoos for Richard and height/weight is slightly off. Nothing I wouldn’t contribute to the person reporting him missing just not knowing. The age and timeframe are the biggest differences. I could see “Disco Dan” leaving CA to travel to other places, especially considering the decade and his “groovy” vibe! ;)

JMO, what do y’all think? Richard has about 24 exclusions listed, all but one are from VA.

It's better to have some extra attention than to get lost in the pages! Most of these people are long forgotten so I don't mind seeing them pop up again :)
I was thinking the same thing ;) I don’t want to create extra work for the admins/moderators...I think I finally figured out how to properly search for specific threads and add news ones to the appropriate forum! Knock on wood :D

This MP has a similar look, similar stature, similar tattoo....but other details don't fit. Just want to put it out there.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
He does look quite similar! Weight is off a tad bit, tattoo varies (as is often the case) - the dates are the biggest difference. But I’m discovering how very many details can get distorted over time, for whatever reason. Especially when the person making the report isn’t confident about the MP’s height, weight, even last time anyone saw them.

With 65 exclusions, I think it’s worth submitting. JMOO Good find, he definitely has a distinctive look!
