Officials at the Governor Dummer Academy in Massachusetts think it's time to change the school's name.
The boarding school, which opened 1763, is named after Massachusetts Gov. William Dummer, who donated the land to start the school.
Headmaster John Doggett said the "Dummer" name can make a poor first impression on prospective students and their parents. But some Dummer grads feel changing the name is a dumb idea.
Thomas Driscoll, who graduated in 1978, said the Dummer name is very special. The school's Board of Trustees will vote on a new name in May.
