Was this girl murdered?

Was that size 15 a child's size? I know there's been vanity sizing in the past couple of decades but 15 sounds huge for someone who only weighs 95 pounds. She would likely wear an adult size 0 today and that's only because of her height. If she was 6" taller, she'd probably wear a size 00.

Aproximately 8 months and 225 Miles separate the disappearance of Gail Joiner and the discovery of this unidentified girl.

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information openly available on either case.

Although there is a 6 inch "discrepancy" between listed heights, there might be enough similarity between these cases to warrant a closer look.

Men's shirt sizes are listed as neck size in inches followed by Arm length in inches for long sleeve shirts, for example 15 - 30.

A Men's short sleeve dress shirt (which would close at the collar for a tie) is listed only as neck size. Example - 15.

Ah yes, I didn't think of a a man's shirt on a woman. Women's blouses are usually bust size I believe so I would guess about a 32 for someone her height and weight.

Is there any suspicion that this woman might have been a prostitute? It would seem that if you have a slogan on your panties that maybe you expected someone to see you undressing.

I'm thinking the underwear might have something to do with anti-Vietnam/Republican party sentiment:

I could see myself thinking this was something "cool" to wear as a teenager. Interesting that it's actually embroidered - it looks drawn on.

I think "size 15" must have been a child's size. When I was a kid in the 1980s, I has thought that children's clothing size went up to sizes 14 or 16 -- I really wish that I could remember more clearly.

More likely it was a 15" neck, aka a men's size medium. Wearing a man's shirt as an oversize blouse or overshirt has been intermittently popular among teenage girls for decades, at least since the 50s.

A youth large (boys') will say 14-16 on the tag but I've never seen 15 as a youth shirt size.

When Carlene Tengelsen disappeared from a Georgia mall in 1972 she was wearing a man's dress shirt. Not that I think these 2 cases are related, but it does show us that girls wearing men's dress shirts may have been common in the early 70s.

Girls wearing mens dress shirts was very common in the early 70's. They were worn for everything from sleeping to yard work, to just hanging out wear. Is this girl in NAMUS? Does anyplace have a description of her? NCMEC? NAMPN?

In response to a question upthread, I think this young woman was indeed murdered, she's listed as a homicide (some others are listed as suspicious death). I wish there were at least very basic details of dentals - did she have any wisdom teeth? Were they crooked or straight?

The size 15 shirt would have to have been a mans shirt, or a juniors shirt. At that time, the largest junior(teens) was 15. They werent that common, but they were around. I would think a mans 15 would come closer to fitting her, as it is the smallest mans shirt size.

A juniors 15 would have been comparable to a ladies 16 only Cut a bit more petite.Way too big for this girl, but some people like oversized clothes. Or if she was a runaway, it might have been all she had.
