Mother insists missing teen is not a runaway

Thirteen year old Dylan Redwine isn’t a runaway, his mother Elaine Redwine insisted late Friday afternoon, Nov. 23.
She said Dylan’s father Mark Redwine said he last saw his son at around 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, noticed he wasn’t around at around 11 a.m., and reported him missing at around 4:30 p.m. that day. Mark Redwine lives at the north end of County Road 500 at Vallecito.
“I don’t believe he ran away,” Elaine Redwine said, and he isn’t evading people searching for him. “He isn’t just out there roaming the area. I believe he is being held (against his will) or is unable to contact us.”

    Frustration mounting

“I’m running out of prayers,” Elaine Redwine said as she watched a law-enforcement boat equipped with sonar trace patterns on the reservoir near the dam. “The longer this goes on, the more helpless we feel.”

Dylan Redwine was last seen at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 19 by his father, Mark Redwine, but was gone when the father returned home north of the reservoir four hours later after running errands.

Investigators have few clues in missing boy case
A week after a 13-year-old teen vanished near his father’s home, investigators tell FOX31 Denver they have no new information on the teen’s whereabouts or any suspects in his disappearance.

Dylan Redwine, who was last seen on November 19, has been the focus of a massive and extensive search by the La Plata County Sheriffs Office and the FBI for over a week. The teen, who splits time between his divorced parents, was last seen at his father’s house near Vallecito Lake in Southwest Colorado.

“We haven’t identified anyone as a suspect at this point but the investigation is looking at a possible abduction or the possibility of a runaway,” said spokesperson Dan Bender of the La Plata County Sheriffs Office.

Other agencies in the area are also assisting with the search. Within the Task Force are two crime analysts: one from the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and one from the FBI. These analysts are taking all the information coming into the Task Force and putting that information into computer programs. These computer programs allow the analysts to search information in different ways to identify any additional leads. The Sheriff’s Office has received hundreds of tips.

Missing teen Dylan Redwine’s father says he had nothing to do with disappearance
A day after being called a suspect in the case of a missing teenager by the boy’s mother, the father of Dylan Redwine is speaking out about the search that’s lasted over a week.

Dylan Redwine, who was last seen near his father’s home on November 19, has not been identified as either an abduction victim or a runaway.
The FBI, CBI and La Plata County Sheriff’s office have conducted interviews with neighbors, the Redwine family and others but have not announced any new leads in several days.

“He needs to come home and that’s what everyone wants for him,” said Mark Redwine in an exclusive interview with FOX31 Denver’s Mark Meredith after attending a community organized prayer vigil.

‘Gain hope each day’ 150 people turn out for Redwine vigil
Candles shone in the darkness as more than 150 people turned out for a vigil for missing 13-year-old Dylan Redwine on Tuesday evening at Eagle Park in Bayfield

Elaine Redwine, made comments to ABC News Radio on Monday saying she’s afraid her ex-husband might have had something to do with their son’s disappearance. Mark Redwine, who said he arrived late because he didn’t know about the vigil, obliquely responded to those comments during his speech.

“Unfortunately, his mother and I don’t see eye to eye,” he said. “I wish it could be different, because at a time like this, we should be together.”

Dylan’s older brother, Cory, 21, gave his father a hug after he spoke.

After the vigil, Elaine Redwine’s sister, Lia Howard, said she was surprised Mark Redwine came.

“But I’m glad he did,” she said.

    Search changes focus
When approached at his home in Vallecito, Mark Redwine answered the door clutching a pillow. He declined to be interviewed, saying he had been “bombarded” by media requests.
He said he didn’t have a lot of support at the moment and had family coming in to help him figure out how to respond to the situation. Mark Redwine said he expected his brother to arrive Tuesday night in Vallecito.
In response to questions about Elaine Redwine’s recent comments intimating that her ex-husband might be involved in Dylan’s disappearance, Mark Redwine said, “I don’t want to lash out at my ex-wife.”
Mark Redwine reported his son missing the afternoon of Nov. 19. He told police he saw his son about 7:30 a.m. as he left to run errands. The boy was gone when he returned about 11:30 a.m., he said.
Redwine and Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, divorced in 2007. She and Dylan and another son, Cory, 21, moved to Colorado Springs this summer. Dylan was on a court-ordered visit with his father over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was unclear who obtained the court order.
Elaine Redwine was director of financial aid at Fort Lewis College when she left for Colorado Springs this summer. She works in the same field now at Colorado College.
Mark Redwine worked at United Pipeline Systems in April 2010 when a kitchen fire caused heavy damage to his house.
The person who answered the telephone Tuesday at the company in Bodo Industrial Park said, “I’m not going to give out any information at this time” when asked if Redwine still is employed there.
