    FL - Jason Cobb, 30, & Charles Jackson, 26, Lake Jesup, 29 Dec 2012

This is near my home. I know Michelle Parker's mom Yvonne has joined the searchers. She's such a good soul. It was really cold out there today and will be even colder tonight. Let's pray these men are found safe!

It's quite disturbing to read that their life jackets were left in the boat.

    Unhappy

Any information on the ages of the two men? Nothing in the article I found except that they are "survivors" according to a family member.

No telling but one thing that could have happened is they got out of the boat to track something and got disoriented and lost. They may be trying to find their way to human contact.

LE has asked searchers to leave the area as they want to use thermal imaging.

There are some "islands" I guess you could call them. Still no sign of them:

"We've done searches by vessel, traditional kicker boats and air boats. We've also coordinated search and rescue efforts with air planes and helicopters," said Hudson. Along with Florida Fish and Wildlife crews and Seminole County deputies, more than 100 volunteers showed up to help with the search."

Here's a map of the area. They launched from the Black Hammock.

    Here's another map:

Lake Jesup Air Boat Ventures, Black Hammock Fish Camp Road, Oviedo, FL

What I don't get is why if they were headed all the way up to lemon bluff, did they launch at the Black Hammock? They're from Osteen and Deltona, both of those towns are by Lemon Bluff. It was 1 am and really cold that night and that's a fairly long way to go when there were lots of other launch sites closer. The Mullett Lake launch site is right there. It's not like they were in air boats and cruising.

So sad. The thought seems to be that they hit something and were thrown into the water. My prayers are with the families.

I am praying for these men. If the lake is approximately 6 feet deep (I believe this is what I read), and I would assume that both men may be about that height, it is unfortunate if they drowned. I read that the lake has a great many alligators but that the alligators go down into caves to stay warm at this time of the year. I don't think that Lake Jesup is too far from the Wekiva River, where I almost drowned in as a child. My heart goes out to the families and I will continue to pray for these guys.

Just to be clear, the longest any of the crocodilians has been observed to hold its breath is 8 hours. Most have to surface after a couple of hours, but will normally do so every 15 minutes.

So alligators may use caves in the winter, but they don't hibernate like bears. (Bears, of course, continue to breathe while in hibernation.)

    So sad.

"Body of one missing Lake Jesup boater found

The body of Jason Cobb, one of two boaters missing on Lake Jesup since Saturday, has been found, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife officers.

The body of Cobb, 30, was found floating near Bird Island, east of the Lake Jesup Bridge in approximately 6 feet of water, according to officials."

    From January 2013:

A full week after he went boating with his friend on Lake Jesup, searchers finally found the body of Charles "Charlie" Jackson on Friday afternoon, officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

Jackson's body was found floating in the lake about halfway between Black Hammock and Bird Island in about 6 feet of water...
