OXNARD, Calif. -- A middle-school science teacher fired after students learned she had appeared in pornographic movies had hoped not just to get her job back, but to set a precedent for people looking to escape an embarrassing personal history.

A three-judge commission put a decisive stop to both, saying firmly and unanimously that Stacie Halas should not be in the classroom.

"We were hoping we could show you could overcome your past," Halas lawyer Richard Schwab said Tuesday. "I think she's representative of a lot of people who may have a past that may not involve anything illegal or anything that hurts anybody."

Judge Julie Cabos-Owen said such a past matters in an age when technology makes *advertiser censored* easy to access and hard to bury.......more at link......

The middle school kids found her *advertiser censored* movies?

I am so sad for Staci. I mean, yes, acting in *advertiser censored* is not the most...socially acceptable jobs, but...it's not illegal; it's not even a big "no-no".

Why can't she make a clean break, and move into a more "socially acceptable" position?

I've known *advertiser censored* actors/actresses...for the most part, they have shame in doing it, but it was done for a solid reason - it tends to pay fairly well. Earning a living legally should not be frowned upon...

It was legal, for pete's sake.

Gah. Sometimes I get super frustrated with the legal system, as this is a judgment on someone who has done some serious work to get her teaching license; to deny her the right to change her life is just wrong.

agreed 100%!

Crappy reporting. How long did she work as a teacher? Using school computers to look up *advertiser censored* for any reason doesn't seem appropriate. I wonder who was really the first to find the *advertiser censored* then decided to blame the kids.

I hate to be the lone dissenter here, but she could have gone into lots of careers. The disruption this would cause would go on for a long time.... there is no erasing the *advertiser censored* now. Sometimes you just have to live with your choices.

I don’t agree with the ruling by this Commission. Too puritanical for my blood.

She didn’t do anything illegal. So she appeared in some adult films, big deal. If she appeared in some violent movie, fully clothed, and people were shot up to shreds I’m sure that would have been alright.

it's like she's being punished for trying to pull her self up. those kids, as someone said earlier didn't find this out on their own. sounds like someone helped them find out.

She did do the right thing to get herself into a clean industry that pays FAR less, so I respect her for that.
GOOD move Stacie. :)
But I as a Mom would want a good role model teaching my children. I want them to have someone to look up to. What a rare concept for today's times. :(
Having said that - what were these children doing looking at *advertiser censored* anyway???
I did not even know what *advertiser censored* was when I was a teen.
