Although Mr. Toups is believed to be deceased, that has not been proven and no body has ever been recovered. I just don't want him to be forgotten.

GALLIANO — More than a year since he was last seen at a Bogalusa hotel, the family of Larkie Toups has all but given up hopes he will one day return.
Rose Toups sits in her Galliano home Wednesday evening with a photo of her son, Larkie Toups. Larkie Toups went missing Jan. 1, 2008 from a Bogalusa motel. Police say they are still investigating new leads.

At this point, their remaining wish is that authorities can find his body so that a memorial service can be held.
“There’s still a question mark,” Rose Toups, his mother, said. “I sure wish he’d come back, but I think I know better now that somebody did something to him.”
Toups, then a 47-year-old tugboat crewman, went missing the night of Jan. 1, 2008, after visiting friends in Bogalusa.
A Bogalusa police spokesman, Sgt. Darrel Darden, said his department is currently investigating two men believed to have participated in the robbery and murder of Toups.
No charges have been filed, however.
