STAN 'THE MAN' MUSIAL DIES AT 92 (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
A bronze statue has stood outside the last two Busch Stadium facilities, now residing on newly-dedicated Musial Plaza. The inscription reads, “Here stands baseball’s perfect warrior. Here stands baseball’s perfect knight.”
What can you say when your favorite player when you were barely seven dies?

What can you say when your favorite team loses its crowning glory?

Lengthy New York Times obit:

Stan Musial, One of the Game’s Greatest Hitters, Dies at 92
---
A signature Musial image endures: He waits for a pitch in a left-handed crouch, his knees bent and close together, his body leaning to the left as he peers over his right shoulder, the red No. 6 on his back. The stance was likened to a corkscrew or, as the White Sox pitcher and Dodger coach Ted Lyons once described it, “a kid peeking around the corner to see if the cops are coming.”
---
I know I'm old, but this reminds me: when I was born the St. Louis Cardinals were the only MLB team west of the Mississippi.

So sad that all the greats of that era are gone. I remember seeing his plaque in Cooperstown several years ago.

Wish it was baseball season right now..........

They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Rest in Peace.....STAN THE MAN!
