    Remember this?

I guess the reason I am posting this is because I wonder what would have happened if she was in charge of the "investigation" in 1996?

ML gave the authority to arrest him for this crime even though their was no proof he ever stepped foot anywhere near the R house in Boulder!

Imagine what she would have done to people like Linda Hoffman Pugh & Santa Bill?

    I shudder to think.

Isn't it amazing that so much time and money was spent on a wild goose chase, while the only logical answer was staring them in the face? IDC what he claimed, did a single person believe this man was the killer? I remember wondering how this case got so far off track.

Thanks to the Rs connections, this case was never on track! It has been one long circus.

Another sideshow of that circus...the Rs really did think they were something special.

BBM You got that right! It's amazing how power, political connections, and money can make some people go blind. Sometimes I can almost hear a very powerful voice declaring "You will pin this murder on anyone it will stick to....as long as their last name is not Ramsey." I just wonder how far up the ladder is that voice? I have a great link showing all JR's powerful political connections, but I'm not sure if it's ok to post it.

I remember the very first time I saw JMK's picture and heard that he was arrested I said "B***S***!!" (Okay, more like screamed it.) It was ridiculous. Just a total flake looking for his 15 minutes. I didn't think it was possible for the Boulder DA's office to look any worse, but they sure found a way when JMK was arrested.

JMK was having problems where he was living. I truly believe he saw this as an easy way out of his present problems, knowing full well he was innocent in the Jon Benet murder and would be exonerated. He would then be in America again. What an ugly, evil human being that man is.

As for the R's, they had a sense of entitlement from day one. Unfortunately the BPD was afraid of their law team and the investigation was swayed from day one by their inexperience and fear.

What I truly can not understand, is how ML could justify the cost of extraditing JMK back to CO, without first running an inexpensive DNA test.

    Hi Sunnie

Only one thing I disagree with. Although the crime scene and events of that morning were handled appallingly, I wouldn't say the BPD were afraid of the their law team.

Lets not forget that there is a possibility that certain people within the DA's office knew there was a deceased child in the house prior to JR "finding" her. If this is true, then the BPD were never going to gain proper control of that murder investigation.

Having said that though, I do feel that the BPD was not without their finks. I blame Koby for a lot of what went wrong in the first year after the tragedy.

DeeDee can probably elaborate on this, but I remember reading that JB's body was found around 11:00 AM. This was reportedly told to JAR, and I can't remember who else had knowledge of this, but others were aware of this. How could these people know this and keep it quiet? This was one of the most preposterous things coming out of this whole thing.
There are people who should have been prosecuted for aiding and abetting the rotten murderer of this child, and that includes the BPD. How on earth can they withhold this information.
Not to change the subject, but I was reading some of the older posts yesterday. I came upon something quite interesting that I had forgotten about. On Dec. 17th Patsy called JB's Dr. 3 times within an hour after 5:00 pm when his office had been closed for the day.
What was the urgency of the call? Had something happened to JB? I tried to go back and think of events around that time. I know JB was in a Christmas parade, the tour of the house was held, and the 23rd was when she said she didn't feel pretty, and the 24tb JB was supposedly in her room not feeling well most of the day. Just what happened on the 17th that PR made those 3 phone calls within one hour.

I'm aware of JR telling JAR that he found her at 11:00, but he didn't tell anyone at the time. So how would the DA's office know she was dead before anyone else in the house knew at 1:00?

I never did understand how he could have made a slip like that. I could see the possibility of looking at a watch and thinking 12:55 looked like 11:05, but I highly doubt this innocent explanation applies here.

When I read Limaes post my first thought was, yes, if John Ramsey called his lawyer before Patsy called 911 then his lawyer likely called the DA so that would mean the DA's office knew there was a dead body. Ramsey was hand-in-glove close to many powers that used to be in Boulder, according to what I've read. Ramsey telephone records weren't made available and we are told via various publications that the cell phone records showed no calls made during the time in question. Iirc, Patsy claimed the cell phone was lost or something similiar.

Thank you for your post and 'hi' back at 'cha!

The only thing I can say to your above comment, is the DA's office had a different agenda than BPD. The BPD problems began with LA allowing multiple people at the scene to wander and contaminate potential evidence.

They were unable to gather evidence the way it needed to be gathered, as their hands were tied in many instances. Including, but not limited to releasing JonBenet's body, releasing the house back to the R's, etc.

The DA, even IF he knew the entire truth, had an obligation to 'solve' the crime. If it is true that Burke was the responsible party, there was no reason to continue investigations. If it was someone else, they should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

JMHO and frustration that in this day and age, no one has been held responsible for Jon Benet's death.

A bit of regrouping, troops. JR made the comment to Stewart Long that he found JB's body at 11 am. And Stewart gave that information to BPD. I always wondered how he and Melinda worked through that and moved on with their wedding and life.

Maybe it was as simple as you thought, Nom de plume, in that JR mistook the reading on his watch! The havoc of the situation might have allowed for that if his watch face was not one that has a simple, clear reading, but rather has dots or even none, where the individual time marks normally are. That simple premise could create reasonable doubt for a jury.

As far as the DA's office knowing about JB's body being in the house - please say it ain't so! Waaayy too much criminal activity to consider. But, Hunter did have connections to Ramsey's law firm through outside business holdings. Collusion would have been a possibility.

None of us are dumb enough to believe anything about cell phones or records just disappearing. That all takes human activity, and powers that be to make those things happen. Crooks and cronies are responsible - I'd stake my retirement on it!

    midwest mama,
A timeline would help. Who said what, when and where?

JR makes a time mistake, misreading his watch, was he wearing one? Presumably he knew what the time was when he made his failed flight request?

Remember JR tapping his feet, and moving nervously, he would be well aware that the ransom deadlinen had expired, i.e. he was very much alert to the passage of time.

Surely everyone in the house knew when midday had come on gone, i.e. JonBenet was definitely found after midday?

Did Fleet White see JR checking his watch after he found JonBenet?

    Excerpt, Perfect Murder Perfect Town
Minutes later, John Ramsey’s older children from a previous marriage, John Andrew and Melinda, arrived. They had just flown in to Denver. Originally they were going to meet their father’s private plane in Minneapolis that morning, and then the entire family would have continued on to their vacation home in Charlevoix, Michigan. But John Andrew had called his father from Minneapolis and learned about the kidnapping, and he and Melinda had taken a United Airlines flight to Denver. Now, outside in the early afternoon chill, Ramsey told his son and daughter that their little sister had been murdered. Minutes later, a patrol car escorted the Ramseys to the Fernies’.
This might help with a timeline, depends when JR told Stewart Long ?

JR told JAR and SL he found JonBenet at 11 am, outside the family home, inside a car, when they arrived from the Denver airport. JR has neither denied or backtracked on this statement by SL, that I am aware of. The R's back peddled on a LOT of things. Why not this? Also JAR has not said his father did not make the statement. He only said 'he doesn't remember. Ramnesia.

Does SL have other inside information JR is afraid of, leading to his staying silent about this statement? Is there past history in JR's first family, that SL has threatened to 'air' if JR calls him a liar concerning this statement?

I have also wondered why Melinda and SL got married. He had to have either been satisfied with how things lay concerning the investigation, or he is protecting someone for a different reason. Either way VERY interesting!

    SunnieRN,
All interesting stuff. JR's remarks are bizarre. He knew when the ransom deadline was, i.e. JonBenet had not been found. He knew when midday was, i.e. JonBenet had not been found, so where does 11:00 am come from?

Maybe its a freudian slip. Also he could not find JonBenet at 11:00 am, since he knew where she was.

Sounds more like 11:00 am has some significance for JR?
