A young man who testified at a child sex abuse trial last summer that former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky tickled and grabbed him in a campus shower in 1998 sued him, his charity and the university on Tuesday.

The man, previously described as Victim 6 in court papers, filed the federal lawsuit in Philadelphia as John Doe 6, claiming that Sandusky's behavior was "ratified" by The Second Mile charity and Penn State and that the organizations acted with reckless indifference to his rights. He is seeking at least $75,000 in damages.

The lawsuit alleges that Penn State intentionally didn't oversee Sandusky properly and failed to report him to authorities when he was suspected of abusing children, allowing him to commit "his criminally outrageous and depraved acts."

Good for you. I hopes it helps you in some small way.

I sincerely hope that all of those men who testified against Sandusky sue, and that they all get punitively high damages. That would seem to be the only way to get the message across that institutional cover ups and "turning a blind eye" are just not acceptable.

I equally sincerely hope that we don't get the disgusting spectacle of band wagon jumpers claiming to be victims when they smell money, because the first people to be hurt by that will be the genuine victims.

This incident was reported, so the key might be what, if any, influence PSU had in that investigation.

Howard Janet, one of the lawyers, wrote in court papers filed Friday that he wants a hearing in front of a judge over the stay that Penn State and The Second Mile, the charity Sandusky founded, are seeking.

Their “actions have created a personal tragedy in the life of John Doe 6, and on a larger scale, impacted an entire network of abuse victims,” Janet wrote. “It is time for this matter to move forward to allow the healing process to begin.”

Judge to hear arguments to delay Sandusky Victim 6 lawsuit

A federal judge has scheduled a court hearing next week for arguments about staying the lawsuit filed by a young man who testified that Jerry Sandusky showered with him in 1998.

The hearing is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the federal courthouse in Philadelphia. The presiding judge is Anita Brody.

Lawyers for Penn State and The Second Mile have asked the judge to stay the lawsuit, arguing in various court pleadings that the criminal prosecutions of former university leaders Graham Spanier, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz will prejudice the defense of the civil suit.

Penn State shot down again in attempt to stay Jerry Sandusky victim’s lawsuit

Penn State was rebuffed in another attempt to have a lawsuit filed by one of Jerry Sandusky’s abuse victims put on hold, and lawyers for The Second Mile charity went on the offensive to have the lawsuit tossed.

The developments were among a flurry over the past week in the case that has Victim 6 from the Sandusky trial suing Penn State, The Second Mile and Sandusky in federal court. The young man testified last summer that he felt violated when Sandusky forced him into a campus shower after a workout in May 1998............

The lawyers denied The Second Mile was a “hunting ground” for Sandusky and said the abuse allegations did not stem from any of its programs or events.

The crux of the lawyers’ argument was that Sandusky was not acting on behalf of The Second Mile when he abused Victim 6 in 1998. The lawyers said the charity did its job when the boy was under its care in a youth program and that officials had no control over Sandusky later.

Furthermore, the lawyers took a shot at Penn State, saying that whatever evidence there was in 1998 “was concealed” by the university from The Second Mile.

The lawsuit brought by Victim 6 is the only one from someone claiming to have been abused by Sandusky that was not stayed........
