Robin--Thank you! Regarding the PAHomepage link you posted I think its worth mentioning the article states that little Marise might trusted her killer or he might have been in some position of authority or respect to her. Back in 1966 predomimently Catholic Hazleton there was no one more seemingly trustworthy than a priest. IE Father Sabadish.

He also has been suspected of praying on his young charges in his home parrish

Jessiejay, I read about the 'person of trust' and got the impression they were hinting about a priest.

Jessiejay, thanks so much for bringing Marise to our attention - and welcome to WS!

And I don't think strange quite covers it, skeet. More like 'serial killer'. :(

Did the priest have any other ties to Hazleton besides the basketball game? Just wondered if he made trips to the area several times before or after and what parish he would have been associated with.

Skeet--I cant find any other connections. I really think this was a crime of opportunity. He saw her, he wanted her, so he took her. You cant throw a rock in this area without hitting an old coal or strip mine so I dont think it was that hard for him to dispose of the remains either.

I'd love to get more background about this case. She was supposed to be taking tinned food to the church that morning before school, I wonder if she made it ? If anybody has more info I'd be greatful.

Jessie, it's the church connection again :( I guess I'm thinking she may have met her killer at the church. Maybe said a prayer and somebody in the church offered her a lift to school. So the canned stuff is really important IMO.

I'm not sure if I posted this link before but the last paragraph has what I can find on the basket ball game and why Fr Sabadish would be in the area that day. I think he was in the church, maybe touring it with another priest and by chance ran into her. The man had a type it seems. And little Marise fit the bill.

And a bit more about the connection to Carol Ann Dougherty, Sabadish and the Vidocq Society. It seems the good father passed away 2/5/1999--14 years ago TODAY! Creepy!

I think I was thinking of the Greek Orthodox church that is in White Haven, I wondered if he had any ties to that church.

I wonder with dropping off canned goods if you can drop them off any time? Like someone is usually there and the door is unlocked to the church. Or did the church schedule a certain day of the week for such things. If you are from the area its possible you could ask the priest that is there now about it.

St Patricks day was on the 17th and the next day was when Marise was killed, the 18th. I'm thinking that the staff would have celebrated with a few drinks after the game and stayed overnight ready to go home the next day.

Nearly a year to the date of the Chiverella murder, another young girl was murdered in Bristol. "We are re-examining possible leads that the two cases may have a connection. Theres quite a bit of overlapping investigators work that occurred at the time of this incident," said Rossi.

Who was the other little victim in Bristol, March 1965?

ETA: I found the answer. Mary Grace Triolo, 15, in Tullytown, Feb 21, 1965. Authorities first said she was strangled, but an autopsy later revealed she died of natural causes from a viral infection and exposure to the cold.

I edited my post to add the information. There has to be more if the investigator thought there was a connection to Marise's murder.

Re Mary Grace Triolo, 15 - I read about her, 3 boys left her drunk, outside in the elements, where she died IIRC.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest the other victim from 1965 was Kathy Shea, missing 6 year old from Tyrone, PA. She went missing on her way to school, oddly enough, March 18th, one day after St Patricks day.

Edited to add, I'm starting to think somethings really weird.

I've PM'd the poster Regadley for some background on the family, where they worshipped and what religion etc not holding out much hope for a reply, no recent posts.

Oh, you must be right, Robin. One year almost to the day.
