Suspects at large.

In an email sent to staff, the Dallas County District Attorney's Office confirmed the victim was a prosecutor and was fatally shot.

Below is the entire email sent by the Dallas County DA:

This is probably a isolated incident but until further notice if you plan to work past dark today please be careful and ask security for assistance escorting you to your vehicles if needed. Kaufman County is immediately southeast of Dallas, about thirty miles, btw.

I wonder what cases he recently prosecuted...

Does anyone know how to find out if the prosecutor was personally trying a case today and what case it was ? No telling if this was revenge or if it was done to throw a case into a mistrial!

Can someone start a scanner thread please? I would do it if I could but I'm at work and can't listen.

Kaufman County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Patricia Laney told the Tyler Morning Telegraph the shooting happened shortly before 9 a.m. in a parking lot near the county's courthouse annex.

“This did not happen in a county building, but instead in a parking lot,” she said.

I noticed there seem to have been 'multiple' suspects.. Makes me wonder if it is a gang retaliation.

The jury handed down life sentences for the gang activities charge and the possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver charge. The two aggravated kidnapping charges garnered Crawford an 80-year prison sentence for each and the jury assessed 30 years each on the remaining convictions.

Assistance District Attorney Brandi Fernandez was the lead prosecutor on the case, assisted by ADA Shelton Gibbs.

Not sure if this is related or not but I guess it could be.

Tonya Radcliffe, a board member on the Kaufman County Appraisal District whose office is adjacent to the scene of the shooting, said a staff member heard the gunshots and called police. Radcliffe said she and her staff of about 25 are in the building and under lockdown.

Also locked down are seven campuses with the Kaufman Independent School District, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and the Kaufman County Courthouse. Forney schools are under a soft shelter, which means kids can move throughout the school, but are not allowed outside. The three campuses in the Scurry-Rosser ISD are also on lockdown.

UPDATE: Prosecutor slain in Kaufman instrumental in Aryan Brotherhood investigation

http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/201...-outside-courthouse-in-downtown-kaufman.html/

I had a feeling this was going to be the case...

I bet it had to do with this take down of the Aryan Brotherhood, posted on this thread...they will know exactly who these people are, hopefully to arrest them soon:

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Federal agents charge 34 white supremacists

Federal agents arrested dozens of members of the white supremacist Aryan Brotherhood of Texas on Friday and charged them with murder, kidnapping, racketeering and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.

A 43-page federal indictment unsealed by the Justice Department names 34 members of the violent organized crime group who have been charged, including four of its senior leaders.

Is this the conviction I posted earlier...and I really felt from the moment I saw that article about the Aryan Brotherhood conviction, that that's what this was over. I hope they catch them soon and as far as I'm concerned they LE can go ahead and discharge their weapons while aiming at the perps brains....save Texas tax payers some money and just handle the situation.

They did not give a date of the previous Ayran Brotherhood arrests in that article but since it was so big and well-publicized, I'd say it's likely the same one the vicitim was involved in.

This is so tragic for a man doing his job well to be killed for it, and others on the case have to be in fear for themselves also.
