(Orange City FL, Tues. Jan 29, 2013)

Cell phone “dials” 911.
Conversation re drug sales (from cell in moving vehicle) is transmitted to 911 operator.
911 tracking is aided by call’s references to Harry’s and to driving a tow truck.
At location where 911 signal originates, LawEnf spots & stops tow truck marked Harry’s Towing.
Pocket-dial caller and cell are in truck.
LawEnf finds crack pipe in driver’s pocket and arrests driver for drug paraphernalia.

Dumb Criminal or Lame Excuse Nominee?
The 19 y/o arrestee explained the presence of the crack pipe:
“…the pipe belonged to his father but that he had taken it and put it in his pocket because
he did not want the landlord to see his dad had drug paraphernalia in the home, deputies said.”

BTW, Media Spin in "Innocent Pocket Dial Turns into Nightmare” ???
Above teaser headline that prompted me to open the article was written from criminal point of view.
---Innocent pocket dial? Not exactly, imo, more like an accidental pocket dial.
---Nightmare? A crack pipe arrest is not, imo, a nightmare (unless based on, say, LE-planted evidence),
seems like a logical consequence of being stopped w. a crack pipe in pocket.
A law-abiding point of view headline could be “Law Enforcement Doing its Job.”
Well, that would not generate any page views, would it?
(Not debating merits of drug or drug paraphernalia laws, just commenting on headline-spin)

(Edited to clarify source of the "spun" headline above.
It did not come from the newspaper-website reporting the story,
but from mycenturylink.com, which condensed the story and
characterized w. "innocent" and "nightmare."
Local FL newspaper site headline is---
'Deputies: Man arrested for discussing drug deals in 9-1-1 call"

Thanks to Reader in post 2 for bringing to our attention.)

Mods: if this belongs elsewhere, please move. TIA.

I vote for dumb criminal, ....The title of the story has been changed already so some editor caught the 'innocent' also:

Deputies: Man arrested for discussing drug deals in 9-1-1 call

His name is Dollarhide, lol...

More arrests to come? Now they have reason to search the dad's home and Harry's business, I would think....
