I hope the third time is the charm. Kelly Ellard is so guilty.....she needs to be put away for a long time.

3rd Trial's a charm for killer Kelly Ellard! GUILTY

I remember watching this chick on TV sometimes and she was so cocky and smug. She thought this 3rd time round, she's get off.

Court documents released Thursday portray teen killer Kelly Ellard as a belligerent and often abusive inmate who has threatened others and had violent outburst in jail that include throwing food and kicking chairs.

A desk officer who monitored a phone call heard Ellard say, "until I'm sentenced, I'm going to be good . . . because I have to. After that I'm going to go psycho in here."

Ellard was found guilty last month of second-degree murder in Virk's death on Nov. 14, 1997, in Victoria. A three-day sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin July 5.

Ellard was part of a group of mostly teenage girls who swarmed Virk, a school outcast, near the Craigflower Bridge over Victoria's Gorge Waterway.

After the initial beating, she and an older teen, Warren Glowatski, followed Virk and attacked her again. Glowatski, also convicted of second-degree murder, testified Ellard then dragged a helpless Virk into the Gorge and drowned her.

Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Kelly Ellard has yet to be sentenced (it's been delayed several times), but the maximum sentence she can get is 7 years because of her age at the time of the crime. It's too bad....some pictures drawn by her as a young teen (before the murder) show people with their hair on fire, shooting, etc. Very disturbing.

Ellard's lawyer is planning an appeal. Yup, another appeal.

I feel so sorry for the Virk family. Having sat through 3 trials of Ellard, facing another one, the trial of Glowatski and other participants in the past 7.5 years you have to wonder if they've had any time for healing. They are lovely people who have shown a lot of class through all of this. Although I only know them from TV, they live around the corner from me. I think I might take them some cookies or a plant one of these days.

VANCOUVER -- Kelly Ellard, the convicted killer of Victoria teenager Reena Virk, was granted access yesterday to a publicly funded lawyer to pursue her bid for an unprecedented fourth trial in the long-running tragedy.

Evidence at all three of Ms. Ellard's second-degree-murder trials painted a horrific picture of Reena's last moments.

The 14-year-old was initially swarmed and beaten by a group of teenage girls, including Ms. Ellard, and Warren Glowatski, 16 at the time.

Then, according to testimony given in court, Ms. Ellard and Mr. Glowatski followed Reena back across the Craigflower Bridge over the Gorge waterway in Saanich, beat her unconscious and drowned her.

The viciousness of the crime, instigated by a group of girls, shocked the country.

She may be able to argue an appeal, but from the known facts and a legal standpoint, it appears that the appeal will not be granted.

If she was sentenced to life, with no possibility of parole for 7 years, that is an adult sentence. She can apply, but considering her character, I doubt that it will be granted.

A young woman awaiting trial for the 1997 swarming death of Reena Virk in Victoria has been arrested and charged with an unrelated assault.
Kelly Ellard, 21, is charged with assault causing bodily harm following an attack on a 58-year-old woman in New Westminster.
Police say Ellard and a friend were drinking in a park in New Westminster on Tuesday afternoon, when they invited the older woman to join them.

Police spokesperson, Staff-Sgt. Casey Dehaas says Ellard and her friend accused the woman of stealing a cell phone. Police allege the two assaulted the woman.

"One of the assailants, Kelly Ellard, who's 21 years old now, living in New Westminster, was holding the victim down, while the other...19-year-old Danica Callighan, was actually assaulting the 58-year-old."
Dehaas says Ellard could also be charged with violating her bail conditions when she appears in court in New Westminster on Thursday.
Callighan has also been charged with assault causing bodily harm, and Dehaas says she could also face charges of breaching bail conditions. Both women are being held in custody.
Ellard is awaiting a new trial after being found guilty of second-degree murder in the 1997 death of the 14-year-old Virk. The B.C. Court of Appeal ruled in 2003 that the Crown had asked improper questions during Ellard's first trial.
Virk was swarmed by a group of teenage girls and one boy in November 1997. She served about 18 months in youth custody. She's been out on bail during her appeal, after receiving a mandatory life sentence.

Where is Ellard now? I realise this is an old article above but thought it summed up exactly where Ellard should be.

This story made me feel physically sick.

I believe she is still in jail where she belongs for a long time.A good read about the killing of Reena is called Under The Bridge by Rebecca Godfrey. My daughter whom is 16 is reading ti right now and is horrified at how mean people can be.

Here is a clip from a recent news story the young man convicted Warren Glowatski has been released on day parole, with the blessing of the Virk family. It states at the bottom that Ellard while still seeking her fourth appeal has two years to go in her sentence before she could even apply for parole.I think she should be deemed a dangerous offender and never let out.

    Virk killer granted day parole

MISSION - Warren Glowatski, one of two people who beat 14-year-old Reena Virk then drowned her under the Graigflower Bridge near Victoria in 1997, has been granted day parole.

For a year Glowatski, 26, has been leaving prison on unescorted temporary passes. The Virk family did not oppose the application for the passes and expressed hope Glowatski could eventually lead a useful life.

His co-accused, Kelly Ellard, was convicted in April 2005 of second-degree murder and sentenced to life with no chance of parole for seven years.
Ellard is pursuing an appeal - her fourth.

But because Ms. Ellard had three trials, she will not be eligible for parole for another two years.

Do you recall what the program was called or possibly what channel had aired by chance? It sounds very sad.

Dateline did a story on this called " Under the Bridge", and there is a book about this case also called "Under the Bridge". Very sad case, I remember hearing about this case way back in 1997 when I was 13. ( I remember reading a small newspaper article about it in the Fort Worth Star Telegram).

Almost two decades since an ostracized 14-year-old was swarmed, viciously beaten and then callously drowned near a Victoria bridge, Reena Virk's most notorious killer is asking for release.

Kelly Ellard was 15 years old in November 1997 when she smashed Virk's head against a tree and then held the Grade 9 student's head underwater until she stopped moving.

Ellard is scheduled to attend her first day-parole hearing on Tuesday, seven years after the Supreme Court of Canada rejected an appeal of her second-degree murder conviction.
