    Winter Storm Nemo: Nor'easter Looms

    http://www.wunderground.com/news/win...30206?pageno=1

Notorious Time for East Coast Storms

There's just something about February when it comes to winter storms.

Over the past few years we've had the following:
    •South/Midwest "Groundhog Blizzard" of 2011
    •"Snowmageddon" in the East 2010
•New York City Central Park's snowstorm of record (26.9" in Feb. 11-12, 2006)

Winter Storm Nemo is now poised to become the latest example of a powerful February storm.

Let's break down the threat each day starting with Thursday.............
Has narrative and maps of what is predicted from Thursday to Saturday....plus some great snow photos taken by NASA from space on p.4:

I'm in CT and we now have a blizzard watch. 10-20+ inches of snow predicted with 40-50 mph wind gusts for tomorrow/Saturday...

    Everyone stay warm and safe!

I've spent the better part of the past three days following the Jodi Arias' case proceedings and discussion here at WS. With this major snowmaker looming, I absolutely must go out today and run some errands, get my allergy shot, do some marketing. We've had minor snowfalls over the last few days with some accumulation, but the new storm could bring as much as 4-6 inches to Metro Detroit

    Stay warm and be safe.

34" predicted for where I am in central mass.

February was also when the legendary blizzard of '78 happened. I wasn't much more than a toddler, but I do remember the snow so high we were sledding down the roof of my house into the front yard.

This is supposed to be worse than that.

I usually shop on Friday mornings, but had to move it up to today. It's already a mob scene. Hitting the packy a bit later for my blizzard beer, hopefully they aren't wiped out.

Metro Detroit here as well - got told by the boss this morning that if we get as much snow as they're calling for, to not go to great lengths to come in to work tomorrow.

    Not. A. Problem.

It's unreal how many times the east coast is getting walloped!

So far we've had a very mild winter, again....which means a ton of bugs again this summer. (My poor garden.) We are getting a light rain, need much much more as we are still in a drought.

One to two foot of snow... 40 mile an hour winds....sheesh! Be safe and prepared my friends.

My opinion and nothing but my opinion.

Tor:Con Index link below. Will show you the probability of a tornado happening in your area.

FEMA's link for Emergency Supplies list below or what you need to survive for three days in case help is not immediately available to you.

You can also purchase a weather radio which will inform you of severe weather even if your electricity goes out. Runs on batteries of course.

Jaw drop is pretty much what I've been doing since I saw the snowfall prediction map lol. I tried another TV station, hoping maybe it was a mistake, and they gave 31". Not much better!

Also, I'm a very short person. If we get 34", that's about waist high on me lol.

Oh well. Best thing about winter storms is if the power goes out, you can move your frozen stuff out to bury in the snow to stay good. Assuming you can get the door open, of course.

Sounds like a snow day tomorrow

When I was young many years ago and went to school

There was never such a thing as a snow day.

25 cm over 2 days is just a dusting here in central Ontario.

Well, it might rain in Oklahoma later. (Don't hit me!) I love weather events and am jealous of this one.

We are forecast for 4-8 inches. I am hoping that school is cancelled on Friday, even though it means unhappy kids. If it isn't, it means that I have to drive in it, because there are 2 seperate awards ceremonies that day, both of my kids are getting academic awards, and we have to escort my oldest to his hundreds day party. Not that I don't want them to go, but I don't want to get in an accident on the way there either.

I agree the name is a bad omen. These late winter storms are always bad, but this season has been so extreme that it makes me even more nervous.
    JMO. Unless there's a link, I can't prove it.
