In the year since their divorce became final, Maribel Estrada had fought with her ex-husband to get child support for two of her children.
David Hernandez Arroyo Sr., 43, described as a handyman of sorts, had not complied with the divorce decree, the woman's attorney said Thursday, and the state attorney general's office had been unable to garnish his earnings because he usually worked odds jobs and was paid in cash.
On Thursday, Estrada, 41, asked for the afternoon off from her job at Loggins Meat Co. to attend a court hearing.
She never made it inside a courtroom.
