The feds say a former Newtown man offered investors a "friends and family discount" on stocks, but what he really did was take their money and lavish it on his own friends and family.
On Thursday, former Newtown resident Garrett L. Denniston, 62, pleaded guilty in front of U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven federal court to one count of wire fraud related to a seven-year scheme that took $2.5 million from 50 people. The FBI and Greenwich police combined to take him down.
