TN - Joyce Gregory, 47, shot to death, 14yo boy charged, 2 March 2005
CUMBERLAND CITY, Tenn. - A school bus driver was shot to death as she drove her route Wednesday morning and a male student was taken into custody, authorities said. No students were hurt.
Law enforcement source who spoke on condition of anonymity told The Associated Press that the bus driver died.
At the time of the shooting, the bus was carrying up to 20 students, ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade, said Bill Austin, a supervisor for Stewart County schoolsJust when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........
Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

School Bus Driver Shot and Killed
A school bus driver was shot and killed in Stewart County, Tennessee Wednesday morning while driving her morning route.
School Bus Driver Shot To Death On Route
I just watched the press conference and there were 24 children on the bus between the ages of 7 and 17. The bus pulled up in front of the student's house to pick him up when he allegedly shot the driver and killed her. They had apparently had an argument the day before. He is 14. She was 47 with two kids, ages 11 and 13. Dover is a little bitty town, one of the most unlikely places to see this kind of crime...if there is such a place. Everyone is quite shaken by it.
Also, she was a teacher's aide until two years ago when she started driving the bus. My guess is her job got swept away in the new administration's budget cuts. A lot of small counties have had a hard time with those cuts. Looks like this one might have cost this woman her life. Very sad.

From May 2006:
A teenager who shot his school bus driver to death after she reported him for using smokeless tobacco on the bus was sentenced to life in prison.
Jason Clinard, 16, was convicted Friday on a first-degree murder charge in the death of Joyce Gregory. Clinard, who was 14 at the time of the March 2005 shooting, was tried as an adult.
