Marysa Nichols, 14, was reported missing on Tuesday Feb. 26th after she did not return home from school. Her body was found behind Red Bluff High School at 11:00am today.

As of 4:30 p.m. Thursday, there is no word on whether the police suspect foul play.

For locals, it says that there will be a candlelight vigil tonight at 9pm in front of the courthouse and one tomorrow at 6pm but the location has not been decided.

Marysa also used the last name Whitmire. Searching that name on fb and looking at public posts offers some rumors from friends about what may have happened.

hmmm. okay, I see now. lots of local rumors flying.

I can find no social media of Marysa's does she not have a FB page? Does anyone know did she carry a cell phone? Was it with her when she headed to school or for that matter, when she was found?

Already my mind is spinning with questions.

Is there a bf? I need to pull up a map so I can see where she was located.

Update: Police Confirm Body Found is Missing Girl; Case is a Homicide

Dianne Whitmire, Marysa's mom, said she dropped her off at her independent school program just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The program is called Education Outreach Academy, and is located at Red Bluff High School.

Marysa reportedly told her mom she would walk home around 2:30 p.m., but never showed up.

At approximately 11:03 a.m. two members of the SWAT team located a deceased female in the creek area west of Red Bluff High School and east of Baker Road.

Based upon the scene we have determined that this is a homicide investigation. Our investigation is continuing and an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2013.

Vigil Held For Marysa.

Hundreds of mourners stood outside the Tehama County Courthouse Thursday night to pay their respects to 14-year-old Marysa Nichols.

Young teenagers and adults were brought to tears, and were seen hugging each other for support.

The teen was last seen at school just before noon on Tuesday.

Nanfito said no suspects are being investigated at this point, but he's encouraging anyone with information to contact authorities.

At around 5:30 p.m. she reported her daughter missing to the police department. At around 1 a.m. officers and detectives searched the creek area for the missing juvenile as this is an area that she would have crossed when walking home from school. Officers and detectives worked on this investigation until approximately 3 a.m. on the morning of February 27, 2013.

The creek area was searched again on the 27th at around 8 a.m. Neither of these searches produced any leads or information regarding the disappearance of Marysa Nichols.

This makes me wonder. It appears LE searched the area of the creek on several occasions and did not find her body. Was it there but just not found, or did it end up there after the previous searches?
