Lisa's jewelry business page is linked from the below Twitter account, which also includes a personal website, an Etsy page and a Tumblr page.

Her final retweet, promoting a Kickstarter project, was March 1. She was found dead in the early morning hours of March 2.

"Commander Theriault wouldn’t comment on whether Lisa Koziol-Ellis had been sexually assaulted or if anything had been stolen. He did say that the Ellis’ new home at 1 Garden Crescent Court had been a place where residents didn’t seem to stay at for very long."

The police clearly think the perp is monitoring this case; they are being incredibly tight-lipped about the condition of the body and circumstances surrounding its discovery.

Autopsy Monday. No suspects in custody (as far as we know). More details below on the death of a creative, artistic soul.

Elgin is a west suburb of Chicago, and is no stranger to crime. Most of it involves gangs and the drug trade, yet there were still no 2013 murders in the town before Lisa. Random murders like this, involving a victim with no obvious history of domestic abuse or involvement in organized crime or the drug trade, are pretty rare despite Chicago's growing reputation as a murder hotbed. All is quiet in the national media, probably owing to her alternative looks and sexually-oriented social media habits. Hopefully the local press stays on this.

There is an informal memorial service for Lisa Tuesday night. I read elsewhere that Websleuths will close the victim's thread in their honor during their memorial service, so I am posting this information so that this forum may be closed if and when it becomes a place of active discussion.

Cops: Neighbor fatally stabbed Elgin woman during burglary

An Elgin man on parole for burglary was ordered held on $5 million bail this morning, charged with stabbing a neighbor to death with a screwdriver and a knife after breaking into her townhome.

Paul A. Johnson, 34, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count each of home invasion and residential burglary in the death of Lisa Koziol-Ellis, 33. He faces up to 100 years in prison, according to prosecutors

<snip>

Someone came forward to police after Johnson told them he intended to steal a DVD player from his new neighbors and broke into the home with a screwdriver, according to police records

Over a :censored: dvd player? So for an item that would cost what, about 50 bucks? A woman has lost her life and this perp is going to do LWOP.

This makes me wish we still had the DP in Illinois.

What a disgusting update to this story. So freaking senseless.

The pictures of her show a very beautiful woman who looked happy and in love with her husband. So sad.

It's no wonder somebody was quoted in one of the newslinks as saying residents didn't stay at those townhomes too long.....

Johnson found guilty of murdering Lisa Koziol-Ellis

Paul Johnson was found guilty of first degree murder by a Kane County jury Tuesday of the March 2, 2013, stabbing death of Lisa Koziol-Ellis.

With extended sentencing for the brutal and heinous nature of the crime, Johnson is eligible for 20 to 100 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections said Assistant Kane County State's Attorney Bill Engerman.

"We are grateful that justice has been done for Lisa Koziol-Ellis and that the jury rendered the verdict that they did," Engerman said.
