Thank you so much for posting. Tom Mascaro is my uncle. A very large family is extremely worried about him and doing everything we can think of to circulate the story and speed up his return.

Our Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/FindTomMascaro We greatly appreciate anyone who takes the time to share it and the flier and other information on it.

I'll point my family here to read through your "Missing Persons" resources and suggestions, and to familiarize ourselves with other missing persons in our respective areas.

Thank you so much, again.

Thank you for the link and for anything that helps us gain exposure.

I did share a PDF checklist that I found here with the family. I'll share that link immediately, too.

Marion County Sheriff's Office needs the community's assistance to help find Thomas Edward Mascaro, 64, who lives in the Oak Run subdivision. Mr. Mascaro is a white male, 5-foot, 8 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds, with gray hair, a full beard and brown eyes. He has possibly been missing for two weeks. Mr. Mascaro's home was checked and deputies found his car in the garage, and his driver's license, debit card and cash inside the home. Mr. Mascaro was born in Pennsylvania and reportedly has been trying to contact his brother for the last four months. At the same time, other siblings have been trying to contact Mr. Mascaro by phone and by computer, with no results. Mr. Mascaro has been known to walk various trails in the Greenway. A relative told investigators, Mr. Mascaro will sometimes travel the trails all the way to Pruitt Trailhead and may walk sections of the trail all the way to Ocklawaha. If you see Mr. Mascaro, please call 911.

ChrisW228, do you know if police have gone through Tom's computer/cell phone records?

If yes, was there anything of interest found that you are permitted to share with everyone?

Thank you. The sheriff's office checked most places and several of my other uncles went to continue searching and contacting places like those.

The police and family went through everything thoroughly. Nothing at all was found. Family says the same thing the articles say - that all of his personal belongings were exactly as they always are and you'd expect to turn a corner and find him relaxing at home.

As cliche as it sounds, it's like he just vanished into thin air.

Hi ChrisW228, sorry about your uncle.

Can you post what you know about the circumstances of him being missing?
Did he live alone? Were the trails within walking distance?

Have you contacted any hiking groups or clubs in the area? At the very least you could send them flyers so they can keep an eye out.

Perhaps you can check with the local Comm. Colleges and see about any outdoor groups you may be able to alert and pass flyers.

ChrisW228, do you know if the Marion County Sheriff's Office is open to the idea of external search and rescue organizations assisting?

The below organization is well respected, and perform their services nationwide.

Also, does the Marion County Sheriff's Office have search dogs?

Thank you, both.

We know very little about anything. He lives alone. The trails are technically within walking distance, but another uncle from the area says he never walked to the trails... he drove to trail heads and walked from one to another. His car and bike are both in the garage, and his keys, wallet (with license and cash) and cell phone were all in the house in their usual spots.

The police searched the house with dogs and the trails by helicopter and found nothing. Family joined organized search parties all day this past Sunday and found nothing. I imagine that means outside search parties are welcome.

We contacted every group and every page and forum for the Greenways trails, themselves, that we could find. Ocala businesses have been wonderful about putting out the word and sharing it on their pages.

I'm not sure exactly who's been called/contacted. We have a very large family and everyone's doing everything and calling/e-mailing everyone they can think of. I continue to pass on every possible idea, like those you're offering. I, personally, am trying to minimize any crossover by focusing on the online resources, and his siblings, my other aunts and uncles, are working with the sheriff's office, physically searching and making phone calls.

Thank you, again.

I don't know if this was answered or not, but was the door to his home locked or did you have to break in to get inside? You said all his stuff was left home, wallet, keys, and cash or ID. That is strange, doesn't sound like anyone knocked on the door and then robbed him or anything like that. If the door was left unlocked it means he intended to come back into the house. Are there any wells, or sinkholes around the property?

Chris -

Does your uncle have a signifacant other? I saw that he resides alone but is there anyone he spends time with regularly?

Was his computer checked?

Does he have pets?

Does he have any history of mental or physical/medical issues?

Any substance problems?

Just curious --------- I am in south Florida. Wish I was closer to help on foot.
