CO - Tom Clements, 58, DOC director, Monument, 19 March 2013

The fact that they are saying they are not concerned for others in the neighborhood make me feel they think he was targeted. I also am concerned that their was much heated talk yesterday about Gun restriction bills being signed by Governor Hickenlooper yesterday, I hope this was not a statement being made through violence.

I feel so bad for his family, but am also thankful as they were home. At least the gunman did not kill his family members. IMHO

I thought Gov. Hickenlooper's words were particularly kind and sincere. Refreshing from a politician:
‘Last night, Tom Clements was killed at his home in Monument. I can hardly believe it, let alone write words to describe it.

‘As your executive director, he helped change and improve (the department) in two years more than most people could do in eight years. He was unfailingly kind and thoughtful, and sought the “good” in any situation.

‘I am so sad. I have never worked with a better person than Tom, and I can't imagine our team without him,’ Hickenlooper said.

Sounds like a hit to me. Looking for a dark colored boxy car. Also interesting is the fact that:

While Clements generally kept a low profile, his killing comes a week after Clements denied a Saudi national prisoner's request to be sent to his home country to serve out his sentence.

Homaidan al-Turki was convicted of sexually assaulting a housekeeper and keeping her as a virtual slave. Clements said state law requires sex offenders to undergo treatment while in prison and that al-Turki had declined to participate.

The "DC executive director getting shot to death on eve of the signing into law of sweeping gun legislation" angle is getting some on-line play too.

At 8:42 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies received a 911 call from Clements' home.

Clements' distraught wife, Lisa, told a 911 dispatcher that the gunman rang the doorbell and then shot her

Investigators search the wooded area surrounding the home of Tom Clements, executive director of the Colorado Dept. of Corrections, on Colonial Park Drive east of Monument Wednesday morning. (Steve Nehf, The Denver Post)husband in the chest, according to a dispatcher's recording.

Authorities arrived at the home minutes later. They found Clements and his wife inside the home on a set of stairs.

Medical crews started performing CPR on Clements while deputies worked to secure the area and search for a suspect. Clements died at the home.

ALSO

On Wednesday afternoon, deputies said they want to speak with a woman who may have been speed-walking through Clements' neighborhood on Tuesday night. The woman is not a suspect in the case, but authorities say she may have useful information.

The woman was wearing light pants, a dark wind breaker and a hat. She was described as being 30 to 50 years old.

I'm wondering what kind of security would they have at their home as his job seemed to be high profile. Was he expecting someone to drop by that he knew so if there was any type of security cams etc they were turned off? Hope they catch the perp so sad for the family.

A man who led North Texas law enforcement officers on a wild chase Thursday is legally dead after shooting a sheriff's deputy and taking multiple shots at other officers, police say.

Federal and Colorado sources identified the shooter as Evan Spencer Ebel, 28, a parolee with ties to a white supremacist prison gang, according to KUSA-TV in Denver.
Ebel is also suspected in the slaying of Colorado prison chief Tom Clements and the shooting death of a Denver-area pizza delivery driver, according to KUSA.

The gunman was transported first by ground ambulance and later by air to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Wise County officials said the man, whose identity has not yet been determined, is legally dead but on life support for potential organ harvesting.

Hmm the shooter maybe a 28 year old parolee driving a Cadillac? Where does a parolee get the money to afford a cadillac?, I'd trace the car. What's the motive?:banghead:

Depends on how old it is. No year is given.....if it is from the 70's to maybe early 90's they aren't that expensive.

One of the above articles said the suspect was also wanted for questioning in the murder of a pizza delivery man. Wonder if it's the case below?
